Life & Work with Lacey Wiley of Lee’s Summit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacey Wiley.

Hi Lacey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I had always been interested in Real Estate, but even more so after our rotten experience buying our first home! We moved to the area in 05 with two small children and no family so I held off on the dream. As time went on and the girls grew older and more independent, my husband encouraged me to jump in full time. Real Estate comes with long, odd hours and the girls could watch after themselves so after many, many years of putting it all on pause, I went for it and got my license on the MO and KS side in 2015!

I have never been a top producing agent in the area but strived more on the dedication and extreme desire to over deliver to my clients. This is so much more than just real estate, it’s about the community, your friends and family (because your clients become your friends). They are looking for the right home for their season of life now and what all it offers, this means you know the market, the neighborhood, where all the awesome local spots are and where the everyday stuff is. I love finding all the hidden jewels throughout the Metro and telling the world about them on Instagram, feel free to follow along to see if there are ones you didn’t know about OR even one’s you can tell me about.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course, there are and have been struggles. I think we all do on the journey over and over again. This past year was really difficult in my personal world slowing down my work world while I took care of my husband while we awaited a liver transplant, which was the most agonizing terrible thing to watch and wait for. He now has made it to and through the transplant with the most amazing second chance and I can’t tell you how that feels. I never left my business 100%, but I wasn’t driving income producing activities during this time only servicing current business and clients. I couldn’t I was the only income in my household, he hadn’t been able to work most of 2021 and while he was sick his business went south. I am now back to full force in my business and working on something big that I can’t wait to announce in the near future.

Growing a real estate business is hard to keep up with and to get to that next level (which is around every corner). Knowing what to track what needs to be done to keep the income coming in. This is something that I am still working on perfecting to gain a better grasp of how exactly to meet my goals. To know exactly what needs to be done next if we are missing the goal target. Another challenge is accepting the fact that marketing is going to at times cost and to let go of the money because it’s an investment and if done correctly a potential to grow the business.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a real estate agent licensed in MO and KS since 2015! My niche is first-time home buyers and sellers. It takes patience and understanding to walk them through all of the unknowns, every detail because they won’t always know questions to even ask. I have worked really hard to do this in person with explanations of everything beginning with when we are showing homes, to when I have a seller’s consultation, to all the documents and everything to follow. I also understand that we all learn in different forms, so have spent time building buyer’s guides, seller’s guides and even my marketing plan for listings to help if they need additional help or if they just prefer to read the info.

What were you like growing up?
I was outgoing and outspoken with a great group of friends. Throughout grade school, I enjoyed playing basketball, in Middle school and into high school, I played volleyball and was on the Pom Pon squad at my high school. I will never forget all of the experiences and friendships built throughout my younger days. Still some of my greatest supporters and friends to this day!
