Today we’d like to introduce you to Kraig Keesaman.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2009 I started Windy Wine Company on my family’s Missouri Century Farm.
Today, the winery has expanded its distribution further throughout the state, and is planning on distribution outside the state. In 2022we opened a distillery at the winery, Long Line Distillery.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Basic struggles of small businesses
A lot of trial and error to see what works/doesn’t.
We have faced agricultural setbacks such as herbicide drift from other neighboring farms.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the wine maker at Windy Wine Company and all of the wines are my creations. I like to do fun and innovative wines, such as the Peanutbutter and Jelly, and Mango Chili Lime wines.
I am also a chef, and prepare food Farm to Table at the winery.
I also have been in Professional Wrestling for over 27 years, wrestling under the name, Niles Plonk, a wine snob character.
I am most proud of my products being enjoyed by our customers. It means a lot to me to be appreciated for something I made.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Many adventures growing up on a Midwest Farm. I am a 6th generation farmer, and learned most about life from the farm.
