Hi Kody, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Triple Double Electric LLC after spending years working in the trade and realizing how much pride I take in helping people feel safe and confident in their homes. I began in the electrical department at MVP, where I learned the fundamentals, built relationships, and developed a strong work ethic. Over time, I gained experience with service work, panel upgrades, lighting installs, troubleshooting, and meeting code requirements.
In 2024, I was awarded Electrician of the Year, which reminded me that I could build something of my own. That’s when I decided to launch Triple Double Electric. I wanted to create a company built on communication, honesty, and clean craftsmanship treating every job as if it were in my own home.
Today, I specialize in residential service, remodels, new construction, and emergency electrical work. I walk homeowners through options, explain everything clearly, and stand behind my work with warranties, performance testing, and cleanup. My goal is simple: deliver safe, high quality electrical solutions while taking care of people in my community.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a business is exciting, but there have been plenty of struggles along the way. One of the biggest challenges was balancing doing the actual electrical work while also learning how to run the business side scheduling, bookkeeping, marketing, pricing jobs correctly, and keeping up with code requirements and inspections. I had to teach myself how to build systems, communicate clearly with customers, and stay organized.
Another obstacle has been maintaining consistency while working through injuries and personal life stress. There were times I kept pushing through pain because customers were counting on me. I also had to learn not every job is the right job, and not every client understands the value of clean, safe electrical work.
The biggest lesson through all of this has been patience and persistence. Every challenge forced me to grow as an electrician, as a business owner, and as a person. Triple Double Electric is stronger today because of those struggles, and I’m still learning and improving every day.

I’m the owner of Triple Double Electric LLC, a residential and light commercial electrical company based in the Kansas City area. I specialize in service work, panel upgrades, troubleshooting, surge protection, and clean installations that bring homes up to current electrical code. What sets me apart is my attention to detail and communication, I take the time to explain what I’m doing and why, so customers feel informed and confident in their homes.
I’m most known for clean workmanship, safe practices, and leaving the job better than I found it. Performance testing, labeling panels, offering 1-year warranties, and full cleanup are standard on every job. I also donate removed fixtures to local organizations when possible, because I believe in giving back.
What I’m most proud of is turning my skill set into a business I built from the ground up. Winning Electrician of the Year in 2024 reminded me that quality matters, but earning repeat customers and referrals means even more. My goal is simple: bring honesty, professionalism, and pride back to the trade one project at a time.
