Life & Work with Julie Chapman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Chapman.

Hi Julie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
We are four working moms–Liz Beedle, Julie Chapman, Emily Penke, and Kelly Seibert, who ghost hunt at night. We all became friends through our kids’ elementary school and quickly realized we shared a passion for the paranormal. Julie has collected an array of paranormal equipment over the years and in November 2019, we began getting together several times a month for investigations.

We typically do it on a weeknight – easier with kids’ schedules, etc – but we did spend the weekend in Rhode Island last April investigating the house that inspired The Conjuring films. We aren’t trying to convince anyone ghosts are real but we always leave each investigation with more questions than answers.

It is a huge adrenaline rush to be in a dark, often dilapidated building and be scared out of your mind with your besties. You can just say it’s a very unique Moms Night Out–and way more fun than a book club.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We are all married and have 10 kids between us so the only challenge we regularly face is trying to coordinate our schedules for a night away and get everyone situated with carpools, meals, sports schedules, etc.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are an all-female paranormal team, not to mention working moms, which is very unusual in the paranormal community. We take investigating very seriously but never ourselves. Most of the activity we have experienced at locations does not seem to be negative and we tend to avoid anything that might be otherwise.

We actually believe our mom energy has brought out spirits of children and we’ve caught several of their voices as EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomenon).

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For us, it’s simply a matter of respecting the paranormal community and still being able to be ourselves. We don’t necessarily fit the mold of paranormal investigators but we love the field and we’re constantly trying to learn more and experience different scenarios that will only enhance our knowledge of the unknown.
