Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Taylor.
Hi Jared, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up, I was into making home movies with my family and friends. Even in High School, I took a broadcasting class and made videos for my church. About ten years later, I found myself with years of experience with videography and editing and even helping with movies and short films from other local filmmakers. This definitely grew my love for this art and in December 2018, I moved to West Africa for one year as an international teacher of Cinematography and covered some stories for missionaries. When my family and I returned back to the United States, I knew I had to stick with Film in order to turn my passion into a career. So I made a few more connections in the local film community, listened to Gary Vee’s podcasts, and decided to start JT VSUALS.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been smooth parts of the road and then parts that were bumpy. The bumpiest part turned out to be a roadblock. It was the first COVID-19 shutdowns. It made early clients decide to pivot in their focus for their businesses and paid less attention to their ambitions for videos that they were hiring me for.
I should also mention that I started JT VSUALS about a month before the shutdowns and gained traction right away. I was even profiting. Then it was like two weeks of figuring out how to continue with get started in my business and got an opportunity to help my church with their now needed online videos. So on one hand, I lost some jobs, but on the other I gained jobs during the early stages of launching JT VSUALS.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I help turn ideas into visual media. JT VSUALS is a video production company focused on allowing local businesses to have cinematic videos for online content.
I specialize in promotional content such as event highlight films, interviews/stories, and video editing.
I am known most for highlight videos and being easy to work with.
I am most proud of a particular scene I shot in broad daylight at the hottest week of this year and turning it into a night time rain scene (https://youtu.be/rtb8faHGWZc?t=346) and a stylish music promo video I made for Real Life Church (https://jtvsuals.com/portfolio it’s the one titled, The Songs That Made Us).
What sets me apart from others is that I am generally more affordable for the quality that is provided. Example, JT VSUALS is not just a video production company but also a video solution company. Whatever the obstacles, whatever the vision, we can make it happen. Also, not many film companies offer 4K HDR deliveries. Whether we’re covering a wedding or filming commercial content, we always capture high quality to ensure the best delivery options for clients.
Example, if someone had us record their wedding and three years down the road want to upgrade it to 4K HDR, we can do that because every project is backed up and we hold the skills and knowledge to let this happen for online content. I don’t know of many others that would do this at this time. At least at an affordable price.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In 5-10 years, I see the video and cinema industry being one of the most valued industry ever and to the point of considering it essential for businesses and brands to grow. If it’s not already! There’s been a huge communication shift in the last 500 years and video and story are the best forms generally speaking. Especially after covid changed everyone’s lives, I see the industry getting real competitive.
