Life & Work with Jamie Redic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Redic.

Hi Jamie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started braiding as a little 9-year-old girl playing in my hair and my friend’s hair. Fast forward a few years and as a sophomore in high school, I started taking clientele doing micros, and sewins. That is where my hustle all began. I continued to take clients while I was attending college at KU and KU nursing school. It was a great supplemental income and really helped me not be a broke college student. I still service many clients that started with me back in my mom’s living room and my dorm room.

I completed Nursing School in 2017. I went on to be a school nurse with KCK public schools. I love being an RN and I love serving the community that raised me. While working, I continued to braid and weave after hours and on weekends. Since hair was still a passion of mine in 2018, I finally decided that I would enroll in a part-time Night Cosmetology Program.

I attended and graduated from Entourage Institute of Beauty and Esthetics 2020 and received my Kansas cosmetology license shortly after. Going to school taught me so much more about my passion within the beauty industry and allowed me to be able to service my clients beyond just braids and weaves. I can now truly give my clients a full service and educate them on caring for their hair.

For the last 2 years, I have had the pleasure of establishing my business during a pandemic. In addition to providing services to clients behind the chair, I also construct and customize wig units. These units along with other extensions and, hair-related tools can be bought directly from my online site. feelroyalbeauty.com

Now pushing forward to 2022, I am in the midst of completing my Cosmetology instructors training. In the next year, I plan to be able to provide education to other cosmetologists and the general public. There is so much we can all learn from each other no matter what industry or passion we have.

Being behind the chair as a cosmetologist and being a nurse has truly opened my eyes to the need of making others feel better. Feeling beautiful and knowing the proper ways to care for yourself can truly be healing to the mind, body, and soul

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road. Some struggles I have faced included balancing my schedule between work, school, and clients. The pandemic was another struggle because we were truly shut down and cut off from our clientele. Being in the pandemic extended my time in school because they had to change our schedules.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Jamie Redic, Licensed Cosmetologist. I specialize in all things hair and that’s what my clients love about me. People love the convenience of being able to get everything done in a familiar place. Whether a client wants a silk press, wig installs, or knotless box braids they know they can book any service with me and get great quality.

My versatility and skill set are what sets me apart. I pride myself in staying up to date on trends being willing to learn new techniques and always caring for your hair in the process.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
To always think with a professional mindset. Being professional will open so many doors for you. Being professional for me has included being timely, organized, communicating with others, and being compassionate and considerate of others and myself. You can’t service them all and there is enough money and clients in this industry to recommend the next stylist.
