Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Cobbins.
Hi Eric, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a child, I’ve always had a fascination with the limo business. But the bug didn’t really bite me until COVID, when I went to spend the week with my guy, former KC Chief WR Eddie Kennison! The last night that I was in town, he arranged for a limo/black car service to pick us up for dinner! A nice shiny black Mercedes Sprinter pulled up… I got in, and was in heaven! I had just shared with my wife Valerie that I wanted to start a business while we were locked down with COVID, and when I stepped in that sprinter I knew what that business would be… a black car/limo service! Ironically when we arrived at the restaurant, the owner of the car service that we used was there. I had the opportunity to speak with him about the business and was even more intrigued! I shared with Eddie K, that as soon as I get back home, I’m starting a black car/ limo service!!! And the rest is history!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the challenges was trying to buy my first vehicle, which was a brand new Mercedes Sprinter Limo over the phone because the company that I was purchasing from was in Ohio! Mind you, this was still during COVID! All the paper work and financing had to be done electronically, which was scary because I’ve met, nor seen any of these people, but I had to trust the people and the process!! This was very challenging for me!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Outside of running Cire Transportation, I Pastor a church in Lenexa Kansas called The Worship Center Of Kansas City. I am formally a music pastor that served on staff at my dad’s church as a kid and then became the music pastor at a major ministry in Johnson County, until I accepted the call to start my own ministry. I am also a former musician and gospel recording artist! I wanted to mention this because I believe that even my past occupations helped me in serving my clients in the limo business with excellence and in providing an exceptional experience! Working in ministry taught how to serve and most of all treat others, no matter the status or background! What sets us apart is the product we provide in our fleet and our standout service! We’re never late, always clean, always courteous and always willing to go the extra mile! (No pun intended)
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see our business on a fast paced trajectory upward! This year we have been selected as one of the official transportation companies for the FIFA World Cup 2026! This opportunity will push our business from a small, to medium sized business!
I know that driverless cars are on the rise but I believe that Cire Transportation will be around to service those who still desire that human element of having a personal driver to transport them to their various destinations.
