Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Hart.
Hi Emily, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my bridal journey nearly 20 years ago in the small town of Paola, KS, where what began as a love for design and connection quickly grew into something much bigger. Over the years, that passion brought me to our current location in Overland Park where Emily Hart Bridal is today. I’ve since had the joy of designing my own line of gowns, Emily Hart Collection. I have enjoyed collaborating with incredible designers from around the world, and creating a space where every bride feels seen, celebrated, and truly herself.
For me, it’s always been about more than just the dress, it’s about the emotion, the story, and the experience. I feel incredibly grateful to do what I love every day, surrounded by so much beauty, joy, and connection.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road, but I don’t think any entrepreneurial journey really is. Over the years, I’ve experienced just about everything you can imagine; recessions, market shifts, even a global pandemic. Each season has brought its own challenges, but also incredible lessons.
Those moments have built muscles I didn’t even know I had. They’ve made me more resilient, more resourceful, and more grounded in why I do what I do. I’ve learned how to pivot, how to stay calm when things feel uncertain, and how to lead with creativity and heart.
I’m proud of the strength that’s come from the hard parts, and even prouder that my kids get to watch me navigate them. They’ve seen me succeed, stumble, and get back up again with grace. That’s something I hope inspires them as much as this journey has inspired me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Emily Hart Bridal, we specialize in creating unforgettable experiences. Choosing a wedding gown is one of the most meaningful moments in a person’s life, and my goal has always been to make that experience as joyful, personal, and authentic as possible.
Of course, I have a deep love for design and style, curating collections, designing gowns, and helping each bride find a look that feels uniquely her, but what truly sets us apart is the heart behind it all. My team and I focus on connection. We take the time to listen, to celebrate, and to create a space that feels warm, welcoming, and real.
Over the years, we’ve built something that feels more like family than business. I love when brides come back years later with their sisters, cousins, or even their babies, it’s a reminder that this work is about more than dresses. It’s about people, moments, and the beauty of being part of someone’s story. That connection is what I’m most proud of.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I think Kansas City is such a special place. It’s home for me, I was raised here, and even after living in other cities, I always find myself drawn back. The people are truly the heart of it all. There’s a friendliness and down-to-earth warmth here that feels rare.
I love that Kansas City has this perfect blend of small-town charm and big-city creativity. You can be downtown in minutes, explore incredible restaurants, and be surrounded by artists, dreamers, and makers who are passionate about what they do. There’s a real sense of pride, community and possibility here.
If there’s one thing I like least, it’s probably just that our city still flies under the radar sometimes, I wish more people could see how much heart, talent, and beauty exists here.
