Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Wilson.
Hi Courtney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up knowing I wanted to find a career that let me be creative but also make me money. So in high school, I decided I wanted to become a nail technician and esthetician. My goal was to make people look and feel their best. My nails are my art and I take pride in them! I also found I have a love for skin and maintaining skin health. In esthetician school, I decided I also wanted to become a massage therapist. I am currently working in a salon with an amazing mentor. She has been so helpful and has made an amazing work environment! We are working on getting a room for me to grow and start offering facials and massage. I go to massage school in the evenings, I still have about ten months remaining in the program. I’m excited for this journey!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a struggle! I start my nail tech journey in February of 2020. Needless to say, Covid threw a wrench in my plans. I got through it even with the online school! The school I went to did not care about the students and all and made getting through the program difficult. Beauty school has so much drama!
I was just determined to get my license and get on to building my business!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a nail technician, esthetician and soon to be massage therapist! As a nail technician, I’d like to say I specialize in nail art. Nails are just tiny canvases.
As an esthetician I want to focus on sensitive skin and waxing! I offer facial waxing at Color You Bad (the salon I’m in) and I hope we can get a private room so I can start offering more services soon!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is reaching all my goals! There’s always room for growth in my business there is no ceiling! Once I accomplish the goals I have set, I will just make new ones until I’m ready to retire. I’m proud of everything I’ve done thus far and I know there’s only good to come!
