Life & Work with CJ Turner of Chicago

Today we’d like to introduce you to CJ Turner.

Hi CJ, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Swagg2x, from the South Side of Chicago — and I’m the sound of ChiStyle. Raw energy, real stories, relentless soul. I came straight out of the concrete pulse of the city’s inner-city streets, and I’m not just chasing a dream — I’m carving out a new lane, paved with truth, struggle, hustle, and heart. My roots are anchored in family, faith, and the fire of the streets. Every verse reflects where I’ve been and where I’m going — a lyrical blueprint built on life, loss, and lessons. I’m inspired by Southern rap energy, elevated by Chicago’s unshakable spirit, and infused with the rhythm passed down through my father and grandmother. I don’t just make music — I make moments.

Out of that journey came ChiStyle: a bold, genre-bending fusion that blends the bounce of the South, the storytelling of the streets, and the soul of the city. More than a sound, ChiStyle is a statement — a movement meant to heal, unite, and elevate. It speaks to the grind and glory of the unheard, the unseen, and the unstoppable.

My catalog includes “Vibes,” “Glocks,” “Touchdown (Radio Edit),” “Run It Up (Radio Edit),” and “Riches (feat. King Kay).” I’m signed with Pack A Punch Records, managed by Boss Ladies LLC, and tied to The Flower, one of Chicago’s nightlife venues, where I do performances, release parties, and brand activations. I’m also pushing into acting, modeling, film and TV. As I always say: “I rap like I got something to say, because I do. And I’m not stopping until the whole world hears it.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. My music is built on life, loss, and lessons — that’s not a line, that’s where I come from. The streets taught me the struggle, and the struggle taught me the hustle. Finding light in dark places is what my sound is about — it speaks to the survivor, the dreamer, the realist. Every step of this has been earned: no shortcuts, no machine behind me, just truth, hustle, and heart. That’s why ChiStyle is a movement and not just a sound — it was built to heal, unite, and elevate, starting with the people the world overlooks.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a hip-hop artist first — my catalog includes “Vibes,” “Glocks,” “Touchdown (Radio Edit),” “Run It Up (Radio Edit),” and “Riches (feat. King Kay).” Beyond music, I’m pushing into acting and modeling for film and TV, and I do brand partnerships and venue promotion, including work tied to The Flower in Chicago. Everything I do is about building the brand and the business — music opens the door, and the empire is what walks through it.
