Life & Work with Christine Caso Ward

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Caso Ward.

Hi Christine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started photographing my boys in their sporting events as a hobby. I bought my first camera (from a local photographer) used on Craigs List and talked him into giving me a job. My first photography job was photographing a local high school football game. From there, it grew into action shots at high school games, banners, posters and senior pictures.

Fast forward, I started going to seminars, took photography classes and now 15 years later, I have a successful real estate and portrait photography business.

I don’t do much sports now because the real estate market is so crazy but I have added drone photography and drone video to what I do now.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I went through a divorce after 21 years of marriage so my “hobby” had to support me. I am self-taught for the most part except for some seminars and classes so that has been a struggle. I am not computer savvy and there is so much these days that you can do to photos on the computer. There is so much software out there to manipulate the way the photos look. That is still a challenge for me because I know nothing about computers.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I would say I am most known for my real estate photography. I deliver high-quality edited photos for homes including 360 virtual tours, video walkthroughs, twilight shots, drone and drone video. I work for many realtors, builders and decorators in the KC area. I pride myself on returning calls in a timely manner, showing up on time and delivering the photos quickly so that the realtor can get the home on the market.

I also do headshots, senior portraits and family photos.

I am most proud of my real estate photos. I can make a dark house look bright and a small house look big. I feel like I do a good job of making a house “shine”.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I worry about the real estate market. If interest rates go up or the economy slows down, the real estate will slow down. Thank goodness I have my other photography to fall back on.

Companies are always looking for fresh new headshots and parents are always looking for a good Senior Picture Photographer.

If all else fails, there will always be high school football and I can get back into that. I really do miss the sports and being on the field catching all the action.
