Today we’d like to introduce you to Christa Schiessl.

Hi Christa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I’ve always been intrigued with storytelling through photography. I have been carrying a camera around in my hand since I was young. I am a self-taught photographer that went to school for Art and Advertising with an emphasis in Photography and Graphic Design. After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, people naturally gravitated towards the work I created, which is how my business was born. Friends and family came to me asking for me to capture their weddings, seniors, and their families. Today, I am running a Wedding and Portrait Photography business where I capture couples and families in a natural and authentic way that is true to their love stories. From the butterfly kisses to the natural gaze, all the way to the belly laughs, I am there to help my clients capture those moments so their stories can be retold for a lifetime.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
In any type of growth, there are always going to be growing pains. As an artist, trying to find what truly evokes you to be passionate about your work was where I got a little lost in the beginning. It wasn’t until I started a family of my own, that I truly found that natural power to focus on the love that surrounds me, and the love that surrounds the people that I work with. This is what drove me into working with couples and families. After that, the process of honing into finding the people you can call “your tribe” has been challenging because it involves putting yourself out there in new ways.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Professional Wedding and Portrait Photographer based out of Lincoln, Nebraska, but often travel all over the midwest to capture couples wedding story in a raw and authentic way, so their story can be retold beautifully for a lifetime. I am most proud of the work I have poured into myself so I can continue to show up as the best version of myself for my clients and my family. I am also so inspired by the amazing people I work with day in and day out who continue to choose me as their person to capture their stories. I think what sets me apart from the crowd, is that I can really get into the moment and feel the emotions with my clients, and I can see the beauty in things that may feel mundane, and capturing them in a way that is pure, emotional and beautiful. I can evoke an emotion in the couples that I work with so that it is seen in the end result. I am also there to help guide couples through what may seem like a really overwhelming process. Getting in front of the camera can be a bit nerve-wracking, and I help them get comfortable, so their photos can reflect natural beauty and emotion.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
If I were telling someone who was wanting to get into the world of being a creative entrepreneur, is that you have to set aside your fears of putting yourself out there. This is something I wish someone had told me sooner.
