Life & Work with Chedda Musik

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chedda Musik.

Hi Chedda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started recording vocals at the age of 13. I had a little turtle beach x12 headset that after I would get done gaming with the boys, I would plug it into my pc and start recording. At first, I did covers of a bunch of Drake and Eminem songs. I never could really get those covers to sound right so I decided to make some music with beats I found online. Therefore I made “The Starter” which was never released but it was my first piece of original music. I wrote music for a couple of months, thinking it was just a hobby I was gonna have. Well… I had written a song called Rich and Famous beginning of 2015 and let a few of my friends hear the song and it absolutely blew up around my school. A lot of people enjoyed it and a lot of people did not. I was upset over some of the mean comments people would say to me about the song and so I never put it out.

Fast forward a year to June 18th, 2016 I performed my first show in Melvern Kansas at the community building. I had some friends and family show up and it was a good “first show” and I though “Hey, this is cool let’s do it again”. So I decided to throw a Halloween theme show called Chedda: Straight out the Shadows”. This show started great I performed some originals as well as some covers… but then the show went south when some people who really didn’t like me showed up and heckled the show until the end. I hated my life. Went home and threw my first mic that my mom bought for me away. I stopped doing music and focused on trying to make content from video games. Two years passed by and I remembered how much fun I was having with music. So I picked up a pen once again. It was around my birthday time so I had gotten a couple of hundred dollars of birthday money to buy some stuff to start recording better. I bought FL studio first. (It was a BIG upgrade from audacity, I found out) then I bought an audio technica at2020 microphone and a focusrite solo interface. I was ready. I recorded my first album “Tuned With Emotion” early-mid 2018. The album was a huge step from anything I had ever done and it was set to release on November 17, 2018.

Then it dropped.

Over 6,200 downloads.

With 20,000 streams.

It was electrifying.

It made me want to commit my life to music but I had so much more in store.

I kept writing and dropped a couple more projects such as
What’s next? (2019)
I’m still here (2020)

But my most recent project was LOVE ME BEFORE THEY ALL DO (2021) which has hit almost 300,000 streams on all platforms!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not the smoothest of roads to get to where I am now. I had to fight to get people to listen or care about what I had to say. And still to this day, it’s a constant hustle to promote yourself differently then all the other artists in this line of work. An example of my struggles was literally getting people to my shows. I would have to give out free tickets for anyone to even consider going to an event that I was at.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Well, first off. I am Chedda and what sets me apart from other people is that I can express my thoughts and feelings throughout all of the components in my music, not just the lyrics. If I’m feeling sad better believe everything in the track will make you feel my sadness. Another thing people tell me sets me apart from others is my phenomenal stage presence. I could take a dead crowd and turn it into a moshpit!

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Most important lesson that I have learned being an artist from a small town. Give absolutely 0 f**cks about what anybody has to say about you. Success doesn’t come overnight but lacking determination and willpower will surely set you up for failure.
