Today we’d like to introduce you to Cerberus Kc
Hi Cerberus KC, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Outside of our coffee head having the initial idea, all it took to get started was finding the right people to run the culinary and cocktail heads whose visions aligned. It feels like we’re still in the getting started process, but we pitched our ideas to people we wanted to work with and were given the opportunity to take the leap.
We also had the opportunity to have the people around us who have their own business mentor us and help us out. We’re very thankful at how generous the small business community has been with their time and wisdom.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think it’s been as smooth as we could hope for all things considered. We’ve gotten a venue to pop up at through Casual Animal from the start, and have found a great small but growing community that has resonated with what we offer, and appreciate the care that goes into what we do.
Our biggest struggle has probably been trying to be grounded in what we want to accomplish and learning to take things step by step. We all have pretty big dreams and goal, but getting to do all of that costs money, requires more permits, and more space to work out of. We want to do things right, so pacing ourselves to ensure we can do things more strategically has been something we’ve been learning to be better at.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We do a lot. The concept of Cerberus was born of wanting to build a space with people who were passionate in their craft. As of right now, our Coffee head is known for his obsessive passion for Espresso, and unique method of brewing cold brew. Our Culinary head has a knack for taking nostalgic and comforting dishes and infusing them with a dose of whimsy. And our Cocktail head has a unique way of fusing his passion for classic prohibition era drinks, and a hunger for innovation and modern technique.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
There’s probably too much happening to have a good idea of where the industry is going. I like to think that smaller local shops are going to continue to grow in popularity. Big chains and corporations have their place, but the opportunity to get good coffee, food, or cocktails from a business who you know is in it because it’s what they love will be hard to pass up. Community is more important than ever, so businesses actively pouring back into the community that they have the opportunity to serve and creating a healthy ecosystem for everyone involved. That’s what makes the most sense to me.
