Life & Work with Brenda Busch of Maryville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Busch.

Hi Brenda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I decided to leave corporate American, and go to hair school with the Paul Mitchel Schools sign opened in Lincoln NE.

I left Lincoln and moved to Maryville, pulling my tool kit from school. I found my guests by gorilla marketing. I constantly networked in the area.

With being new to the community, I quickly learned I needed to offer something to set myself apart from others. All guys cuts come with a shampoo, hot towel, and shoulder massage.

Being consistent with quality cuts, creating an experience and being focused on my guests, their request, has created where I am today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No…not a smooth road. Some struggles….consistent training in the shop. Like train the trainer. Missouri doesnt require continuing educations. I require it. I must keep learning, and I always learn new things.

Of course managing people is challenging.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am know for superior cuts. I am a cosmetologist, barber, and esthetician.

It has taken me a long time to realize I am very good at what I do.

What sets me a part from others…. It’s all about the person in my chair. My goal is for them to love their hair. It’s what they want, not what I want.

I am divorced. I did this on my own.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success in many ways.
– satisfied guests
– repeat guests
– having a goal and achieving it
– growing assets
