Today we’d like to introduce you to Baby Augi.
Hi Baby , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started singing in the church choir at a young age at Skylight Baptist Church in Kansas City all the way up until my senior year of high school. Then, I started making poetry in language art class my senior year of high school in 19-20 school year and was encouraged to continue to write poetry in my own time from my teacher due to her being impressed with my poetry skills as a beginner. I continued to write poetry into quarantine. And then I was encouraged from my peers from high school to put my poetry into songs. So I spent my first paycheck (working at dollar tree) to buy at home recording studio equipment. At first I would send my vocals to be mixed from an engineer in Germany. After progressing through each recording. I would eventually post one of my first songs called “Archnemesis” on SoundCloud. It got 17k plays and made it on the radio on KKFI 90.1 Fm. I eventually decided to go to a studio in Kansas City named Unlabeled studio where I recorded my first ever radio played song called “Hopeful” I was able to get over 70k views on YouTube as well. The next recording session I recorded while I was sick in between shifts working at Amazon. I made a song called “Us” that now has over 30k streams on Spotify. In early 2023 I was able to meet the founder of Source Magazine, Benzino and received praise from reviewing my songs “Sometimes” and “One on one”. Right after that I was invited on to the podcast, “Get it off yo chest” in Kansas City, Mo where I had a listening party and interview with host Terry and Craig. Later that year I started performing for the first time at venues around Kansas City like the Juke house, the Combine and Westport Bowery. And then I released my first album “Leo’s Lone Star, Vol. 1.” Where over half of the album made it on the radio, was covered by a blog, or was performed live. I was also featured that year on KKFI 90.1 Fm show “Slap Tracks” where I was interviewed and performed live on air. On the same night I had 5 different songs with different genres to make it in the radio including 90.9 Fm The Bridge, KKFI 90.1 FM, KO-GR-LP 98.5 Fm, Warrior Radio (Smithville High School), and Power Ace Radio (London). And then later that year in December I was nominated for a music award show in Dayton, Ohio called the mysfit awards where I performed and received “Best new artist” award. Since then I recorded, wrote, mixed an R&B project called “love is not dead” where my song “POV” got over 400,000 views on Instagram and reached 2 million views on TikTok. I’m currently making projects and content that are scheduled to drop around late in November of 2026.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, I had to overcome challenges while taking over my music process. At first I recorded at home and sent my vocals to be mixed. But the quality wasn’t the best so then I ventured to the studio. It was working well for awhile even landing some tracks on the radio until the studio I was at changed engineered and management. Making me start over with finding a reliable solutions. And then I decided to take over my music process by learning to mix and master myself. It was struggling at first but then I was able to make radio quality projects from my home.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a recording artist, producer, songwriter, performer, and engineer. I specialize in being versatile with my sound and making my music relatable but yet also personal with lyrics. I take pride in learning about music production in Logic Pro. My most known projects are either love songs (“POV, Us, No Other Place and Sin and Flaws”) or emotional vulnerable songs (like “Man!c Episodes, Archnemesis, Sometimes, and as well.

My advice is to take a chance on yourself. Even when no one else is willing to.
