Life & Work with Ascension Alejandre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ascension Alejandre.

Hi Ascension, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
What made me interested in makeup was watching beauty by Bianca on Facebook. I badly wanted to be an influencer like her. So I practiced with my daughter and myself.

I studied makeup and just learned what products I needed for me and for other people because I knew I wanted to be a makeup artist before an influencer. On Halloween of 2019, Bianca had done a pop zombie look, and I told myself I’m going to give this a shot. I immediately went to my mom and daughter and told them my idea and they both were just excited as I was. So I went to Walmart and got some facepaint they had there and did it.

Now I will say that Walmarts face paint is definitely not the best quality but I did what I could with what I had. I told myself when I put this picture on my Facebook and if I get good/positive feedback then I’m going to put my all into becoming an MUA. And let me tell u it took off from there.

I’m known for my Halloween looks to this day now. I am a pretty good MUA/face painter. I have just recently been doing live tutorials on Facebook at Tinyz World or TikTok at Tinyalejandre1. And I am growing fast! I feel my dream coming true!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely has not been a smooth road.

First getting your name out there is hard! But it takes Consistency for sure. Doing makeup looks almost every day in itself is hard not to mention being a mom and having to work an actual job to pay bills, but it’s so worth it. Having the money to buy makeup and top brand products is also a struggle.

Having to make the room in your house or wherever you decided to do makeup is not easy either. But most of all I say the time is what I struggle with the most. My weekends are booked with clients and on weekdays I’m doing lives on Facebook so I make it a priority to spend the rest of the time with my children.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a self-taught MUA in Kansas City MO. I started doing makeup in 2019 on others and started face painting in 2020. I’m now a social media influencer.

I specialize in Halloween looks or just detailed looks for sure. I can look at a makeup look and just create it. I’m definitely known for my Halloween looks. I just have so much fun with them and like I tell my followers, “makeup is an art”.

There is no wrong with it because it comes from your mind. I feel what sets me apart from others is my personality. I grew up without a lot and I struggled a lot and for them reasons alone I am very humble. I still struggle some but I’m very happy with where I’m at. I work hard and love what I do.

How do you define success?
Success to me is making my family proud. Being able to give my children what I never had. Showing my girls what you can do if you put your mind to it. Being able to give back to my family and just setting us up for our future.
