Life & Work with Ariel Kahn of Kansas City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Kahn.

Ariel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in the beauty industry at a young age, I was one of those toddlers who cut their own bangs. In high school I was the designated hair and makeup friend, which led to me becoming a licensed cosmetologist and building a business around hair, makeup, and helping people feel confident. Along the way, I discovered that my creativity extends far beyond beauty. Through content creation, fashion, and social media, I built a platform centered on self-expression, personal style, and authenticity.

My path hasn’t always been straightforward. I’ve experienced major life changes, personal challenges, and career pivots that pushed me to reinvent myself more than once. Each chapter taught me something valuable about resilience, confidence, and trusting my instincts.

Today, I’m exploring different opportunities while continuing to create content and explore fashion as a creative outlet. Whether I’m behind a camera, helping a client, styling an outfit, or connecting with an audience online, my goal remains the same: to inspire people to embrace who they are and pursue what excites them.

I believe growth comes from being willing to evolve, and my story is still being written

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Moving from Kyrgyzstan to the United States at eleven years old and growing up between different cultures was one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced. For a long time, I was trying to figure out where I belonged and who I was.

My journey has involved a lot of reinvention. I’ve explored different careers, creative outlets, and passions while learning to trust myself and my own path. There have been setbacks, disappointments, and moments where I had to start over, but each experience taught me something valuable. Now I believe I truly am capable of almost anything.

I see those challenges as a lesson because they taught me to become adaptable, resilient, and comfortable being unapologetically myself.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I consider myself a creative first and foremost. I began my career in the beauty industry as a licensed cosmetologist, where I developed a passion for helping people feel confident and express themselves. Over time, that creativity expanded into content creation, fashion, styling, and building an online community around authenticity and personal expression.

My work is rooted in storytelling. Whether I’m creating content, curating outfits, modifying my car, sharing beauty tips, or documenting experiences, I enjoy connecting with people and showing that creativity doesn’t have to fit into one box. I’ve always been drawn to fashion, beauty, travel, and finding unique ways to combine them into content that feels genuine and relatable.

Outside of beauty and content creation, I have a deep passion for cars and automotive culture. What began as an interest quickly became a significant part of my life. While beauty and cars may seem like completely different worlds, both industries are ultimately about people, relationships, confidence, and understanding what inspires someone.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best: I appreciate all of the new developments and growth happening throughout the city. It’s exciting to see new businesses, restaurants, and entertainment options continue to be added.
What I like least: I would like to see improvements to road maintenance and continued efforts to reduce gun violence and improve public safety.
