Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Gnade.
Hi Adam, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I release a connected series of books and audio recordings of writing that share characters and plots.
The idea is to create a personal history of life as I know it. The work is fiction only in the sense that I’ve changed people’s names and obscured details here and there for privacy’s sake. My latest book, After Tonight, Everything Will Be Different, was released last month as a co-publication between San Diego record label Three One G (the Locust, Kool Keith, Dead Cross, Blood Brothers, etc.) and Bread & Roses Press of Chelsea, Michigan.
I’m originally from San Diego but moved out to Kansas to start a farm about a decade ago.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t have a day job of any sort and sometimes I wish I did. Money comes and goes. Peaks and valleys. Often it’s very hard, like make-you-want-to-give-up hard. The good days make up for it for the most part.
Usually, a lot of my money comes from tours and because of COVID, that’s mostly been not a thing. I’m hustling pretty hard these days.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a quiet kid. A lot of anxiety. Spent a ton of time alone.
