Richard Johnney shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Richard, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
What’s brought me joy and purpose above what I already have, is my daughter. To watch her grow and have the natural gift of music, is something truly amazing to see unfold and I hope one day everyone finds something or someone they can hold deer a live for.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Dj Prodigy, and I express through music production and dance. I create an experience for true lovers of music and art as well as something for the critics to talk about.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I will never be what the world wants me to be, I always and have ever been myself and if the world doesn’t want that then…. Too bad, because I’m coming anyways!
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
In 2018 My team and I finally got to a point where we had a full entertainment building to really take it to the next level. This place had a stage, music studio, photo studio, clothing rooms, everything you can imagine. But one day after taking a coffee break down the street, we came back to a building level to the ground by fire. So as you can imagine it was a devastating hit but I realized that as long as I am here, nothing can stop me.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The industry is in a spiral right now and the lies are endless but with the right efforts, I plan to bring back passion and originality to the game. There’s enough room and money for all of us, so there’s no need to be complacent. Be fearless
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
Not giving it my all, even if god has a different plan, to say I did my absolute best is enough.
