Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Lakeisha Bouy of Olathe

Lakeisha Bouy shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Lakeisha, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I AM A NEW MOM! A first time mom!
Wow, never thought I would utter those words. I am a tiny humans
mother! Life lately has been another new amazing journey. I am so blessed and thankful that God chose me to be a parent to our baby GIRL. Everyday is anew. I have been enjoying the smiles, the cries, the poops and just staring at a bundle of perfection as she sleeps and coos.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Lakeisha Bouy, owner/operator/educator of Intangible Inches. I am a licensed Cosmetologist and certified hair loss practitioner. I have been in the hair industry for 20+ years and a certified hair loss expert for over 5 years. I own and formulate hair care products. My salon is located in Olathe, KS and we have been in business for over 9 years.

As a license cosmetologist and certificated hair loss practitioner, I specialize in hair growth and scalp health. Helping men and women regrow their hair and rebuild their confidence.

I absolutely love what I do and the people I have met along the way!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My parents! My mom and dad has always been my biggest critics… and SUPPORTERS. Lol
My parents allowed me to take cosmetology in high-school, sent me to cosmetology school after high-school, and continued to help in any way they could so I could reach my goals. It did not come without scrutiny though, for good reason!

They knew my potential, and wanted a return on their investment. Haha! If I was failing short in any area they have always been around to remind me of my goals and encourage me in the right direction.

If it wasn’t for my mom, dropping what she was doing to go get the number off a sign that said ‘salon for rent’ I wouldn’t be a salon owner today!

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Believe in yourself. It might take a little longer then you thought, you might have to take a different route but keep going!

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! I am myself all of the time!

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Outside of my skills…..

My monthly emails!

I send silly but serious emails monthly because it’s easier for me to convey information to the masses at one time, then remembering to tell individuals at their appointments. The feedback I get from the quirky emails is always great. One month I forgot to send one and a few clients emailed me like, ‘hello we didn’t get a email this month, are you feeling okay’, lol
