Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kendal Hackett

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kendal Hackett. Check out our conversation below.

Kendal, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I would say mental health. It’s something so many people quietly struggle with but often feel they can’t talk about openly. For a long time, it carried a lot of stigma, and that silence made it even harder for people to get the support they needed. The good news is, I truly believe we’re making progress—more people are speaking up, more conversations are happening, and there’s a growing understanding that taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Well, my name is Kendal Hackett, and I’m a Realtor here in the KC Metro area. I’m not here just to complete a transaction — I’m here to guide you through one of life’s most meaningful decisions. To me, real estate isn’t just about selling houses; it’s about helping you find a place where memories are made and cherished for a lifetime. I focus on building genuine relationships with my clients, truly understanding their dreams and priorities, so that every home we choose together is one they absolutely love.

Outside of Real Estate, you’ll see me as a mom to two amazing girls, a wife of 14 years to the best guy, a softball and volleyball coach and investor myself.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband, Phil, saw me clearly long before I could see myself. Not once has his belief in me wavered. When we first met, I was in school for Accounting. Halfway through, I changed my major to Business and eventually earned my Master’s in Business. There were plenty of days I felt like I couldn’t do it—but Phil pushed me, encouraged me, and reminded me that he knew I could.

Fast forward to my career in Real Estate—he sees the heart, time, and dedication I pour into my clients. And on those days when I’m feeling defeated, he’s right there, lifting me back up, reminding me exactly who I am and how much I’m capable of.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of judgments and failure.

I grew up avoiding showing my failures because I didn’t want to disappoint others. Letting someone down felt like the worst thing I could do, so I worked hard to hide any mistakes or setbacks.

Over time, I’ve learned that failure is inevitable—and it’s actually one of the most valuable ways we grow and learn. I’ve come to understand that the people who truly matter will love and support me no matter what. That realization has given me the freedom to try, fail, and try again—without letting fear stop me.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d probably say something like:

“Kendal cares most about the people she loves, making a real difference in their lives, and helping them reach their dreams. She’s loyal to the core, works hard for what matters, and never loses sight of building a life full of purpose, joy, and possibility.”

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think my clients would miss the loyalty, honesty, and relationship-first approach I bring to every interaction. My clients know I’m in their corner—not just for the transaction, but for their goals, dreams, and peace of mind. The trust we’ve built is something I cherish deeply.

But here’s the thing: the relationships I’ve formed in this business wouldn’t disappear the day I hang up my keys. Many of them are lifelong connections, built on more than real estate. And I wouldn’t change that for the world.
