Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Carlie Eissler

We recently had the chance to connect with Carlie Eissler and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Carlie, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day look a little different these days with a new baby! I spend the first part of my morning with baby snuggles & a feeding. Then that’s followed by me getting ready, eating breakfast, and drinking coffee while doing my daily Bible reading on the front porch of our house!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Carlie, a portrait and wedding photographer in Kansas City! I have always been obsessed with cameras & taking photos, but I started officially shooting families & weddings in high school 9 years ago. In 2023 I began working on building an associate team & last year I started selling presets and digital items!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I believed I would always be shy & quiet and would always be a homebody. However, I truly feel like my job has forced be to branch out & break out of my shell over the last few years! While I’ll always be an introvert at heart, I am definitely more outgoing & social than I ever thought I would be!

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me to persevere, whereas I wouldn’t need to persevere if I only ever faced success. Over the last 9 years there have definitely been seasons where work has been slower & I worry if I’m still doing the right thing, but that has taught me to persevere & never give up. In these times of suffering both in business or in my personal life I lean into my faith, asking for wisdom, guidance and growth.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends & family would say my faith in Jesus & my relationships are the most important things in my life. The people God has placed in my life through family, church, photography, etc. matter to me & I try to prioritize having success in those relationships every day.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m sitting out on my front porch in 60-70° weather with my husband + daughter + dog. When I have a coffee in my hand, a good book, worship music playing & a clear editing queue! If it’s during sunrise or sunset, it’s a bonus!
