We recently had the chance to connect with Kelsi Eastman and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelsi, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Recently, I finally got inspired to paint the inside of our house! I am running screaming from the “millennial grey” and it has been so fun to pick out colors and watch our house transform. My kids have been helping pick out colors and paint the walls as well, which I am really enjoying!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kelsi and I am a Christian, the wife of an amazing man named Brandon, mom to two adorable kiddos, full time Medical Laboratory Scientist, and baker on the side!
Back in 2022 I saw these things called cakesicles (like a cake pop but bigger) on TikTok and thought they looked like so much fun to make! I was looking for a new creative outlet and I love to bake so it seemed perfect. The only issue is I have a gluten intolerance. So, my dear sweet husband finally said I needed to start selling them or stop because he couldn’t keep eating them. Now 3 years later here we are!
The holidays are always some of my favorite times to bake because I sell all these cute little character-themed cakesicles. Then, around Christmas time all the profits from those get donated to the Ronald McDonald Family House at Children’s Mercy here in Kansas City. We spent time there when my youngest was little so it has been great to be able to give back and support something that supported us!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I don’t know if I would consider it one singular moment but I interned for an organization in Haiti multiple summers and I learned so much about our world and so many blessings we have here that we take for granted.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I went to school where there were multiple girls with the same name as me and the others were more “popular.” So, I think the biggest thing looking back I could say would be-
“Just because someone has the same name as you does not mean that you are worth less than them. There is no one else like you and the world needs that quirkiness.”
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I sure would like to think so! Or at least close to it. I lived with a mask for a long time and kind of got to the point of wondering why on earth am I doing that? I may a bit more reserved in public than at home but if you watch my Reels or TikToks that is the same girl you would see at an event!
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Oh shoot I would immediately quit my job and stay home with my family all day every day!
