JASMINE SMITH of kansas city missouri on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with JASMINE SMITH and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning JASMINE, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is definitely a busy one! I currently work a full-time job while also running two spa locations, and I’m a proud mom of three amazing kids. My day starts early—usually before the sun comes up—and from there, it’s a constant balancing act.

I spend my mornings getting my kids ready and making sure everything is in order for their day. Then I either head to work or check in on business operations—coordinating staff, handling client appointments, and managing marketing or inventory tasks.

Throughout the day, I shift between roles: mother, entrepreneur, team leader, and professional. Evenings are focused on family time, helping with homework, prepping for the next day, and often finishing up business tasks after the kids go to bed.

Being a business owner and a mother means I’m always juggling multiple priorities, but I’ve learned how to stay organized, delegate when needed, and keep pushing forward. It’s definitely challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding to build something meaningful while raising a family

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Absolutely! My name is Jasmine Smith—I’m an entrepreneur, full-time working mom of three amazing boys, and the proud owner of two spa locations under my brand Aesthetic Luxury Spa. I also own JS Luxury Boutique, an online boutique where I curate stylish, high-quality fashion pieces for women who love to look and feel their best.

What makes my journey and brands unique is that everything I’ve created has been built from the ground up while balancing motherhood, a full-time job, and my entrepreneurial vision. I’ve mastered the art of multitasking—handling day-to-day operations at the spas, managing my boutique, and still making time to be present for my children.

JS Luxury Boutique was created out of my love for fashion and the belief that every woman deserves to express herself confidently through her style. Whether it’s through beauty, self-care, or fashion—I want every woman who interacts with my brand to feel empowered.

Right now, I’m continuing to expand my spa services and refreshing the boutique with new collections that reflect luxury, comfort, and confidence. I’m also passionate about mentoring and sharing my journey to inspire other women, especially mothers, to pursue their goals no matter how busy life gets. I believe in building a legacy and showing my children—and other women—that success is possible with vision, work ethic, and heart.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that completely changed how I see the world happened on July 25, 2020. I was headed to Miami for a quick getaway—partly for my boutique and partly just to breathe, reset, and enjoy time with my loved ones. As a mother, entrepreneur, and someone constantly juggling responsibilities, I needed that break.

But within 24 hours, everything changed. What started as a simple trip turned into a life-altering experience. From what people saw in the videos and updates, they had no idea how serious things really were—we almost didn’t make it back. For two days, I was in critical condition. I was unresponsive. And when I finally woke up, the doctors told me I might not walk again.

Hearing those words, and facing the reality that I almost didn’t make it home to my two sons, was the most humbling, terrifying, and eye-opening experience of my life. Since then, I’ve looked at everything differently.

I don’t take life for granted. I love harder. I protect my peace. I’ve cut out the drama and distractions, and I keep God and my family at the center of everything. That moment reminded me that life is fragile, and tomorrow isn’t promised—so live intentionally, chase your dreams, and most importantly, love on your people while you can

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Some of the deepest wounds I’ve carried came from moments where I felt alone, unheard, and like everything was on my shoulders. Becoming a young mom, trying to figure life out while chasing dreams, working long hours, building businesses, and still showing up for everyone—it broke me in ways I didn’t even realize at the time.

And the scariest wound of all was almost losing my life in 2020. That moment—being unresponsive for two days, waking up and being told I might never walk again—left me shaken to my core. I saw how quickly life can be taken, and that kind of wake-up call changes everything.

But healing? Healing has been a journey. I found pieces of myself again through prayer, therapy, journaling, and motherhood. My kids became my reason to fight. I gave myself permission to feel, to rest, to cry, and most importantly—to grow.

I stopped pretending I had to carry it all alone. I stopped shrinking myself to be “strong.” I healed by learning to love the broken parts of me, and realizing that those cracks are where the light comes through.

I’m still healing, still learning. But now I walk with purpose—and I turn my pain into power.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what matters most to me is my family, my faith, and my purpose. They know I love hard, I show up for my people, and I give everything I have to the things and the people I care about.

They’d say I’m driven by legacy—making sure my kids have a better life, and that I create something meaningful they can be proud of. They know I don’t play about my kids, my businesses, or my healing.

They’d probably also say I care deeply about growth and loyalty. I’ve been through a lot, so I value realness, peace, and having solid people around me. And if I love you, I’m going to pray for you, pour into you, and push you to level up—because that’s what I do for myself too.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I was the woman who never gave up—even when life tried to break her. That I loved fiercely, gave endlessly, and turned every storm into strength.

I hope they say I was a mother who showed her children what resilience, faith, and hard work look like. That I didn’t just chase dreams—I built them from nothing, and I brought others with me.

I want people to say I was real. That I stood on love, loyalty, and purpose. That I created safe spaces for people to grow, heal, and believe in themselves again.

And most of all, I hope they say… “She left light behind.” That in every room I walked into, in every life I touched, I left something better than I found it.
