Hi Tinetra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started as a teenager with a dream that turned into reality, born in the 80’S my siblings and I was a victim of the crack era and we didn’t have a mother, so it was a rough time for me especially since I’m the only girl out of 6 brothers in total. At a young age I was into how I looked and it mainly was my hair, so after I started experimenting I realized I had a true love and natural skill for the field. I attended high school at Van Horn that’s when I became popular but living in Hilltop townhome apartments turned me into a star, I not only did I do hair for my neighbors it became my classmates, and they family and it took off! I quickly became a household name, with that I’ve build my brand after hair school and started working at Into Hair Naturally as an intern! With the skills I learned from there 6 years later I moved foward to a barber shop and after another 6 year duration at Da Barber shop I was blessed enough to open my own natural loc shop! I’ve been in business for 8 years this June!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My road has been smooth as far as the business! I’ve stayed pretty busy for the last 20 years! If I would like to say the struggle is when you elevate and everyone is not happy for you but it’s sort of the growth, I’ve missed wedding, reunions, birthday celebrations, kiddos events, etc, you can get lost in the process of making your name.

Au Naturale is a Loc Only salon but everything Locs! So my purpose is to allow my Clinet’s to come into a creative studio and become one with their natural hair and beauty! I’m living my dream, I’m a mother of four ranging from 18, 9, 7, and 4 months lol life is amazing! I don’t go to work everyday I go to my studio my creative space
