Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Haefke.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Like many, the pandemic offered an unexpected pause—a moment to step back, reflect on the impact of my work, and consider how my time and talents might be applied in new and meaningful ways. During this time, I was also providing consultation to other mental health professionals working within the school system. Listening to their frustrations with the limitations of mental health services in schools—and their growing interest in transitioning to private practice—sparked a deeper reflection for me. I began to consider how I could support these colleagues in their journeys while also aligning with my own evolving professional goals. After two decades working as a social worker in education, I found myself ready for a change.
The passion for starting Allies Therapeutic Services was born one afternoon, sitting in a coffee shop. While sharing our own stories with colleagues, we discovered common threads in our experiences—threads that united us in a shared commitment: to provide a non-judgmental, safe space where others could feel empowered to share their stories, too. I took the leap and moved forward with my vision.
I began by drafting a three-year business plan, breaking down the steps I needed to take each week to reach my goals. I realized, my passion to open a private group practice in a much-needed community in Spring Hill was doable. Slowly but surely, it happened. Our first client walked through the door in the summer of 2021—a moment that marked the beginning of Allies Therapeutic Services.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey of opening and growing my first business has been fairly smooth. Just as one might expect, it has required countless hours, absorbing knowledge from podcasts and learning from colleagues who generously shared their experiences. While I had held administrative roles as a clinical director and in education, navigating the world of sole ownership as an LLC was a brand-new adventure.
I wouldn’t call the journey a struggle, but it definitely requires persistence. More importantly, it is important to have the ability to pivot, re-assess, and adapt when circumstances change. Staying flexible and open to new possibilities has been key to navigating the challenges and continuing to grow.
We’ve been impressed with Allies Therapeutic Services, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Life’s path is often unpredictable, and challenges are a natural part of the process. We understand that there will be moments when you feel stuck—but it’s important to remember, it won’t always be this way. Things can and will get better. We’re here to help. We are committed to walking beside you through difficult times and helping you develop the skills needed to move forward with confidence and hope.
We strive to be someone you can trust, someone who will hold your story with care and confidentiality. Because we recognize that at our core, we are more alike than different. Drawing on our professional experience and training, we work collaboratively with our clients to develop meaningful goals and support them as they move toward where they want to be.
Unlike many mental health practices, Allies Therapeutic Services accepts insurance. We want to do our best in making quality care accessible and affordable. By working with your insurance benefits, we aim to remove barriers to the support your needs.
Our team of providers each brings their own specialties, allowing us to offer a wide range of services tailored to diverse needs.
It’s no surprise that the need for mental health services has been steadily rising. Over the past four and a half years, we’ve expanded our team of providers annually to better serve the growing needs of our community. As neuroscience continues to expand and deepen our understanding of mental and behavioral health, we gain valuable insight into how the brain and body work together. This growing knowledge reinforces the importance of addressing mental health with the same care and attention as physical health.
Given these realities, I don’t expect the demand for quality mental health services to decline anytime soon.
