Inspiring Conversations with Tiffany Scheffler of National Kidney Foundation (NKF)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Scheffler.

Hi Tiffany, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From early on, I knew that I was put on this earth to make a difference in people’s lives. I’m proud to say that I have worked in the non-profit sector for 20+ years, mainly with youth serving organizations. This past summer I made the transition to the healthcare related non-profit space as the Executive Director for the National Kidney Foundation serving Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. I am overjoyed to be a part of this incredible organization where I know I am making a real impact!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve been very fortunate in my career to have great champions around me that have supported and encouraged me along the way.

As you know, we’re big fans of National Kidney Foundation (NKF). For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
While supporting patients with kidney failure access to quality dialysis treatment and integrated care, the greater mission lies in preventing or delaying kidney failure through kidney health education, with deeper integration into the community and strategic collaborative partnerships.
Our local NKF office serves Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. We are constantly working with local healthcare providers and community partners to find ways to better support kidney patients and their caregivers. We offer monthly patient education webinars, quarter nephrology roundtable discussions, and a pediatric summer camp; Camp ChiMer. Our camp is one of only two in the country hosted by NKF offices for children who are experiencing end stage kidney disease.
We also hold various fundraisers throughout the year to support our work. Our patient centered event is our Kidney Walk, held in Kansas City (10.12.25), St. Louis (9.28.25), Columbia (8.24.25), and Wichita (10.19.25).
If there is one thing we want people to take away from any conversation we have, it’s that 1 in 7 people are at risk for kidney disease and 90% won’t know it until it’s too late. That means you or someone you know has kidney disease, but might not know it yet- early detection is crucial and can be done through a simple blood and urinalysis test. Talk to your doctor to see if you are at risk.

What’s next?
I look forward to continuing my work in the non-profit sector and making a positive impact on our community. Personally, I’m looking forward to moving back to Rhode Island one day. That’s a real hidden gem that holds a special place in my heart. I’m saving up now to buy my retirement beach house! Professionally, one thing I’m particularly excited about is the upcoming NKF Camp ChiMer. This camp is provided at no cost to the families and through really incredible people, sponsors/donors we are able to give these kiddos a chance to just be a kid and enjoy summer camp as it’s meant to be experienced. If you’re reading this and want to help out or know more please reach out. We are always looking for new partners to help us put on a magical camp experience.
