I’m Tashawn Newson, the proud owner of Tashawn’s VIP Homes KC, where I lead with faith, transparency, and a deep commitment to serving others through real estate.
My journey into real estate began with a desire for more out of life. I was working a full-time job and a part-time job, but still felt overworked, underpaid, and unfulfilled. I knew I was meant for something greater. I remembered that around the age of 21, I had once looked into becoming a REALTOR®. Something about real estate always pulled at me, but at that time, I didn’t have the will or the focus to pursue it.
Nearly 20 years later, the opportunity presented itself again and I went for it. I realized I was tired of building someone else’s dream and ready to pursue my own. I enrolled in an online, self-paced real estate course, earned my Kansas license, and followed up with Missouri. I haven’t looked back since.
Starting Tashawn’s VIP Homes KC has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life. This business is more than just buying and selling homes it’s about loving your neighbor and being of value to everyone I meet. I’m passionate about helping others achieve their homeownership goals, and I’m honored to serve the Kansas City community through this work.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but every bump has built character and strengthened my commitment. Getting into real estate was a big leap of faith. I was working two jobs just to make ends meet, so carving out time to study while managing life responsibilities was a real challenge. There were late nights, early mornings, and moments where I doubted if I could really make this work.
Even after getting licensed, building a business from the ground up comes with its own set of struggles. I didn’t have a big network or tons of resources, so I had to learn how to market myself, build trust in the community, and juggle being a business owner while still providing excellent service to each client.
I also had to push through the mental challenges overcoming fear, imposter syndrome, and reminding myself that I belong in this space. But every closed deal, every family I help, and every kind word from a client makes it worth it. I’ve learned that success doesn’t come from perfection it comes from persistence.

Growing up I was always I always wanted more. I dreamed big.
