Inspiring Conversations with Taniel Brown of Vet To Life

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taniel Brown.

Hi Taniel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I was born in St. Mary, Jamaica, grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and joined the military at the age of 18 yrs old. I served in the US military where I learned leadership, commitment and dedication. After leaving the military, I pursued a few different technical careers, such as fuel service engineer, aviation technician and robotics technician. But after 19 years of serving others, I decided to become an entrepreneur, and give back to the community. By using hydroponic garden systems, people are able to grow crops at a faster speed than normal crops, and leave a healthier carbon footprint on the ozone layer.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The main obstacle I encountered was a lack of funding support such as grants and loans from banks. My business was created in Dec 2020, so I was unaware that I wouldn’t qualify for the grants. Another obstacle i faced was location. I had to move my business from Raytown, MO to Independence, MO because of zoning. It’s challenging doing everything on our own, but I am determined to make my business successful.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Vet To Life?
Vet to Life’s strategy is to make hydroponic growing a viable solution in the US. Hydroponics is a soil-less cultivation practice that uses nutrient-rich, ph.-balanced water to grow plants. The powered units operate indoors by solar energy. Our company aspires to be the leader in eliminating food deserts in disaster-stricken and urban areas by utilizing technology to bring the harvest to the marketplace in a fraction of the standard growing time.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5 years, I want to have at least 3 locations in Kansas City, and want to start expanding into other states. My goal is to have store fronts and online shopping for produce. Within the next 10 years, I would like to expand my hydroponic technology. My goal is to support the military in disaster areas, by building emergency self sustainable pods that grow foods.
