Today we’d like to introduce you to Streetwearhouse LLC.
Streetwearhouse LLC
Hello, Streetwearhouse. We appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
So, Streetwearhouse originated as a collaboration between myself, Tyler Love, and my business partner, Alex Trinkle. Before joining forces, we both ran our own respective businesses: Loves Branding and Cleverfools/Stellar Screen Printing. Through Loves Branding, I gained 3-4 years of self-taught embroidery skills, primarily serving other small businesses and local brands.
Alex on the other hand has been in the print industry for a while. Starting right out of high school, he started Clever Fools, a brand that got him into screen printing. As a result, he set up Stellar Screen Printing, not just for his stuff but for lots of other brands too. He found lots of success through leveraging platforms like TikTok and other social media channels. Plus, he was one of the first to offer the now common “50 [shirts] for $250” deal.
Our collaboration started towards the end of 2021 and as 2022 unfolded, we found ourselves working together more often. During one of these sessions of working together, we had this idea to combine our skills to make sample packs for brands to hype up their upcoming drops. At this point, we came up with the name Streetwearhouse but shelved the idea. As time went out, the idea of establishing a full blown print shop came back up and so we rekindled the Streetwearhouse name. While our official start on paper was in January 2023, I like to emphasize the almost decade of experience working on our craft leading up to what we’re working on now.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well, I gotta be honest, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing. Every step of our journey came with its own set of problems. Let me break it down with some real-life examples.
First off, when we were just starting out, it was a real struggle. Picture us in a cramped loft trying to screen print. The space was tight, and the equipment we needed to use turned the place into an oven. It was tough, but looking back, it prepared us for where we are today. Now we’ve been blessed with this warehouse in North Kansas City, but even this has came with its own challenges, especially with growing pains.
Overall, the trickiest part is not repeating the same old mistakes. We’ve been at this for a while, and we each had our own way of doing things as a result. But we realized that when we put our egos aside and work together, we make a lot more progress. It’s not about “his way” or “my way” anymore; its about “our way.” And honestly, it’ll never be 50/50. Sometimes one of us is having a rough day so the other has to step up, but that’s just how we roll.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We’re based in North Kansas City, Missouri, which is growing pretty fast. What we do is commercial screen printing and embroidery services, but we like to keep things simple. A lot of shops out there can print in 8 or more colors, but we stick to a maximum of 4. This is because we’ve noticed that most designs end up being 1 to 4 colors. By doing this, we keep things efficient, and our customers get their stuff faster. Most shops usually take 2 to 3 weeks, but we manage to keep it around 5 to 7 business days.
But it’s not just about the work. We’re all about creating an environment where people want to work with us. It’s not just a quick stop; it’s a place to enjoy. Our customers are more like friends than just clients, and that’s something we take pride in.
Any big plans?
Our immediate plans are all about beefing up our internal operations. We’re working on creating a shop management system that suits our needs. If we nail this, it’s like unlocking the door to boosting our production capabilities, giving us a world of opportunities down the line.
Beyond that, we’ve got our eyes glued to social media for branding. Short format content on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. And in the future, we’re thinking about diving into longer instructional and behind the scenes style videos on YouTube.
Another thing we are working on is marketing to large brands that have a track record of doing successful drops. Our aim is to prove that we can consistently meet their needs and handle the production like pros. It’s a bit like getting everything perfectly tuned, especially when you’re working with these top tier brands. It’s all about dialing in the process, and we’re in dial season.
