Inspiring Conversations with Sara Harms of Sara Sent Me

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Harms

Hi Sara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been someone who dives deep into whatever interests me—learning it top to bottom, making it my own, and finding ways to improve it. That mindset, paired with an entrepreneurial spirit I’ve had for as long as I can remember, has shaped every job and creative pursuit I’ve taken on.

I’ve planned events for local nonprofits, coordinated all kinds of school functions, decorated sugar cookies, and even up-cycled vintage furniture to sell in a booth at the West Bottoms. No matter what I was doing, I was always focused on the details, the experience, and how to make something truly special.

Travel advising was a natural extension of that. After working with an agent to plan a Disney trip, I became fascinated by the world of travel planning and knew I wanted to master it. Goodness knows there is so much to master when it comes to a Disney vacation! I spent six years as an independent agent with a local travel agency, honing my skills, building relationships, and falling more in love with the process of advising while building relationships with my clients. Since the beginning, my clients have known me as Sara Sent Me, and in late 2024, I took the next big step by attaining the credentials to allow me to open Sara Sent Me as a fully independent travel agency.

Now, I specialize in Disney Destinations, cruises, and all-inclusive resorts – designing personalized itineraries that bring joy, adventure, and (I hope) a touch of magic to every trip. Owning my own agency is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, and I love using my skills to take the stress out of planning so my clients can focus on making memories.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t necessarily say smooth but reflecting back on it, it’s just the way it should have developed. I was just beginning to get my legs underneath me when 2020 came along. Not only did travel come to an abrupt halt, I now had to learn how to un-do all of the work and planning I had done for trip after trip while managing the emotions of heartbroken clients who had dreamed for so long of taking these trips. Not to mention that I was putting in all of these hours while losing my own income.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sara Sent Me is a boutique travel agency specializing in Disney Destinations, cruises, and all-inclusive resorts. I focus on creating seamless, stress-free vacations that are tailored to my clients’ unique needs and travel styles. Whether it’s a first trip to Walt Disney World, a dream European river cruise, or a tropical getaway, I help travelers navigate the overwhelming choices so they can simply enjoy the experience.

What sets Sara Sent Me apart is my thoughtful, resourceful, and creative approach to travel planning. I don’t just book trips—I design experiences. I take the time to truly understand my clients, ensuring that their vacations are filled with personal touches, hidden gems, and moments they’ll never forget. My goal is to remove the stress of planning while adding value, expertise, and a touch of magic.

I’m especially proud that my business has grown almost entirely through referrals and repeat clients—a testament to the relationships I build and the trust my clients place in me. Travel is personal, and I want every person who books with myself, or future independent contractors at Sara Sent Me to feel cared for, heard, and excited about their trip.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe my success comes from a combination of things – just like it’s been a combination of experiences that led me to where I am today. I feel I’m thoughtful, resourceful, and creative. I spend so much time thinking about each individual client so that I can anticipate their needs, ensure that every trip is tailored to their preferences, and just feels effortless. Being resourceful allows me to navigate challenges, find the best options, and uncover hidden gems that make a trip truly special. And my creativity helps me design unique experiences, whether it’s crafting the perfect itinerary or finding unexpected ways to add a little magic. These qualities have shaped not just my business, but the way I approach everything I do.
