Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruby Nichole.
Hi Ruby, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Once upon a time “I chose this Life”.
I will never forget the first time hearing these words and being triggered at a retreat where I was supposed to be centering myself and find balance within. I couldn’t believe what this guide in front of me was saying. Are you freaking serious?! Maybe the good things in life I had a part in but the bad. Do you know what I have been through? I was so furious I went and approached her with fury in my eyes filled with tears and all she could do was smile and embrace me saying even in that moment I chose the experience that was unfolding. It took me years to understand this and even a few more to accept what she said back then. And now that I have gained this understanding I agree but when it comes to my career and my life as a healer, well I believe that chose me…even to this day.
When I was young I was adopted. I wish I could say it was because my mom was young and wanted a better life for me. Unfortunately I am one of many where there was trauma that caused me to be failure to thrive among other things and a police officer had the courage to save me and remove me just in time. I stayed with him and his wife so I wouldn’t get lost in the system until they could find me a new foster home. It was my second foster home where I received so much love that they ended up adopting me.
Being adopted had it’s own challenges but being Hispanic in a white family seemed to amplify the insecurities I had of never being enough. I wasn’t white enough, I wasn’t Hispanic enough. This tug of war I grew up with along with knowing why I was adopted made me feel unlovable. As I moved through life other traumatic experiences happened and to feel safe in became a chameleon constantly trying to fit with the disease to please at my own expense. I wore many masks and in doing so I lost myself in the process.
Yet no matter how disconnected I was from myself, I always knew I wanted to help others. Deep inside myself I knew this was part of my purpose in life. The only problem was I didn’t know how or who that was supposed to be. It always seemed no one had high expectations for me. The school system failed to give me any direction and by college I was dropping classes faster than my parents could sign me up. So instead I decided to get married and move to florida.
In florida, massage found me. I remember after moving in to our new apartment, my husband at the time went out to sea for three weeks and wished me well in finding something to do. There I was with no job, no friends, no family wondering what I was going to do. One day I was flipping through the channels on TV and a massage school ad came across. I cannot explain it but I was drawn to this in a way like I was a part of me was being awakened…a part of me was remembering. It was that day I toured the school, signed up, set up a loan and began my journey into a career that never crossed my mind at all. This was the moment I became a healer.
Moving back to Kansas my marriage ended but my purpose began to expand. I was passionate on how the body supports us and what it is truly capable of. In the 20 years of being a healer I have had the honor to evolve beyond massage therapy. I was able to expand into holistic skincare, an energy healer, Reiki master, Embodiment Coach, Spiritual Life Coach, Emotional Intelligence Coach, Master NLP Practitioner and am continuing to evolve as I am guided.
Many people continue to search for what they are supposed to be doing in life and I have been blessed to serve multiple expressions of my purpose which I am truly grateful for. The best part is I now get to serve others in returning to themselves and I get choose where life takes me.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish I could say everything went smoothly, but honestly, I appreciate that it hasn’t been a smooth road. It’s through adversity and obstacles in life that you discover how capable you are of incredible things. They give you the opportunity to see where you’re being asked to grow and allow you to release what no longer serves you, so you can continue to evolve into who you’re meant to be.
The number one challenge I’ve had to rise above was having faith and believing in myself, and learning to be my authentic self in the process. Growing up never feeling like enough, never feeling like I belonged, feeling like the black sheep in a loving family, and having no expectations for myself. All of it held me back. Feeling unworthy because of conditioned beliefs projected onto me by those who were supposed to nurture and pour into me often made me want to hide and give up completely. All of this kept me in a repetitive cycle of building momentum only to feel stuck.
The other challenge I faced, like many of us do, was the disease to please, believing I had to earn validation to feel worthy of success. In learning to rise above this, I also learned to honor my “no” in my business, which allowed me to honor my “no” in other areas of my life as well.
Being able to face these challenges and continue to allow myself to grow where I need to is the truest form of being myself and living unapologetically
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Ho’ōla: To give life. To Revive. To Heal
Ho’ōla Mind and Body exists because of the transformation I experienced in Hawaii when I was able to heal and transform my body back to wholeness. It was in that experience I returned to myself in a profound way that led me to want to offer this to my clients. My own path has included real pain around healing, worthiness, and self-understanding, self-acceptance, self-love and rather than letting that stay a private wound, I turned it into the foundation of my practice. That’s not a metaphor; it’s my calling. I am a NCBTMB Certified Massage Therapist, Esthetician certified in Dermaplane, Embodiment Coach, certified Life Coach, certified Emotional Intelligence Coach, Energy Healer, Reiki Master, and Master Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner, but what I actually do is help people integrate the parts of themselves that have separated: body from spirit, pain from meaning, potential from permission.
What I specialize in: Embodiment treatments that go beyond a surface level massage that treat the mind, body, and spirit as one system, with one Practitioner. Massage, reiki-based energy work, skin and body care, membership programs and Embodiment packages built for people who want transformation on all levels of their being, not a single fix.
What sets me apart: I don’t just have training I have my own life experiences that allow me to sense, channel and understand my client physically/mentally/spiritually. The hardest things I’ve moved through are exactly what let me recognize what’s underneath a client’s tension, their fatigue, their heaviness. I bring a rare blend of grounded, practical understanding and genuine intuitive perception, precise enough to be trusted and open enough where my clients feel seen and held however is needed.
What I’m most proud of: Being the kind of practitioner people come back to when they’re ready to breakthrough what they have known and commit to the work that creates transformation inside out, not treat yourself maintenance, but true expansion . My Awaken, Evolution, and Prosperity packages exist because I believe healing has a natural arc: waking up to what’s true, moving through the transition, and finally receiving what you’ve always been deserving of.
What I want people to know: This work is my purpose, not just my profession. Every experience is an act of service, my devotion to evolution and care meeting a deep, almost stubborn belief that people deserve to feel whole. If you’ve been carrying something for a long time and haven’t found the right hands or the right space to finally set it down, that’s exactly who I built this for.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
In my opinion true transformation cannot exist without a mentor. Let me explain. It is a natural instinct to protect ourselves from pain and it is natural for us to give up on ourselves. When we have the desire to change our life we have to be willing to let go of the old to welcome in the new. A mentor will have the understanding that no matter what you are wishing to change in your life, you will have those moments when you are breaking through you feel you can’t go on, doubt creeps in and you question if it’s even worth it. The mentor holds the space for you to express whatever you want to express and through it all reminds you of the power inside yourself along the process. The push you past your comfort zone because they see the potential waiting to burst from with in and they celebrate every moment with you. The power of a mentor can change your life in ways you wouldn’t have thought possible.
In a world full of trends, influencers, constant tips on how to get your life together, it can be overwhelming. I was blessed with my mentor Randina (love you) by her popping up on my news feed when I needed it most. In fact come to think of it I have met other amazing mentors throughout my life this way (thank you Jessica, Shelia, Jo, Liliana). Randina was and continues to be the Angel that is constantly helping me breakthrough barriers of conditioned beliefs and creating a new way of being that I wouldn’t have thought possible. It is through her work I have been able to do this for my clients as well.
What I would recommend looking for when looking for a mentor or dedicating time to networking would be:
Do they have a mentor and how are they pouring into themselves?
-i have had several clients invest in coaches who had one amazing experience in Bali or wherever and decided to transform lives with that but never continued to learn anything more to pour into them
-if a mentor is not continuing to expand for themselves, you have to ask am I really going to reach my fullest potential with them?
-fun fact: Tony Robbins has several mentors himself for different areas of his life
What am I gaining from this mentor? This networking group?
-does this align with what I am wishing to achieve for myself?
-can I be vulnerable with them and allow myself to be coachable
– research them and see what speaks to you. Just because they may be who everyone wants to work with, they may not be for you and that is okay
-are your morals and values aligned? This is important because this will determine the trust and flow when working together
#1 when looking for a mentor in my opinion:
-Am I ready to invest in a mentor? The truth is when we have the desire to change, we are never ready and there will never be a right time to be ready. This said though you have to be ready to understand mentors and networking groups are an investment: financially, mentally, time commitment and an investment in yourself. Mentors are ready to be there for you, have accountability through the process and commit to you achieving your desired transformation.
-Are they worth it? ABSOLUTELY. The underlying raw truth is of you aren’t reaching your fullest potential there is a reason why. Allow yourself to invest in you and create the life you have been asking for so long.
