Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah Eaton.
Hi Rebekah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When in college I couldn’t find the perfect major for me. I switched my major and minors over 5 times. I loved being creative but also loved structure. I loved helping people and being social. Trying to find the perfect niche that I fit into in college was difficult. Throughout my 5 years of college I mainly flip flopped between being a graphic design major and a mathematics major. I ended up graduating with a mathematics major and minor in art history. But, I still felt like my passion was still to be found.
Post graduation I found a high school math teaching job. I thought that this might be the fit because it helped combine the creative side and the structure that I sought, as well as a way to help others. But I couldn’t find the right fit for school or position and so for 5 years I tried a variety of jobs ranging from teaching to customer service. But I knew that this still wasn’t my calling.
During those 5 years we bought 3 homes and sold 2. I started to realize that Real Estate was the perfect mix of helping people, being creative, yet having structure. After prayer, research, and talking to other agents, I decided to get my real estate license.
At this point I had 1 son and knew that this job could give me the flexibility I needed in a job at this point in my life and teach him valuable skills. I took the classes during my oldest sons nap time, and shortly before taking the test we found out we were pregnant with our second baby. I took the test and passed it on the first try. My first year was a building year. It was a lot of effort, setting the foundation for my business, getting used to having a social media presence, and letting people know I was an agent. While working this year, I knew that this was what I was meant to do.
I was able to combine all my skills and passions into one job. It is something that is flexible and is able to work with my family’s life and I am able to work and be successful at something while still being present with my kids.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I am a mother of 3 and decided to do this career change when my son was around 1 year old. While building my business I have had to learn to juggle how to manage being a stay at home mom and building a business. Our immediate family all lives over 2 hours away and so we have had to create a village and lean on each other to juggle all the responsibilities. Being a stay at home mom, cooking, cleaning, being present for my young kids, and building a business has been difficult to say the least but so rewarding. I also only knew a handful of people when we moved to Kansas City 5 years ago and so I have had to build my contact list and sphere of influence from nothing. However, working through all of these struggles has made me more prepared for any additional challenges life may throw my way and I have a better appreciation for the blessings I have around me everyday.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Real Estate with Rebekah Eaton?
I help people buy and sell their homes. I care about the person and strive to get to know them first. We are working with their largest asset and often memories. I don’t take what I do lightly and I love hearing the stories of my clients and their homes and trying to find a perfect house for their next home. I am detail oriented and thorough. When we go on home tours I am the one who is looking for the imperfections and the items that might pop up on the inspection report, while I let you enjoy the space and see if the layout and aesthetics are what you are wanting in a home. When I’m hired as your agent I pour my heart into YOU as a client, I learn your desires, wants, needs and will tell you if something isn’t right for you because your interests comes first. I will never push you into buying a home or pressure you, because it needs to be something you LOVE and are excited for. I actually encourage my clients to interview other agents. I believe that you need to find an agent that is the best fit for you. I do believe that healthy competition is the best thing for my clients and I am not afraid to be put to the test. If I don’t know the answer I am always excited to learn more and will take classes to expand my knowledge or search multiple pages to find the answer. I have a network of agents I work with that I bounce ideas off of because often more heads are better than one.
My tagline sums up my values pretty well: Real Estate with a Mom’s Heart and a Realtor’s Expertise
I offer free home value estimates as well as walking through your home to figure out what could be done to get the best bang for your buck. I provide information for my buyers on any history we know behind the home BEFORE the home tour. If you have kids I help provide entertainment and can help bring toys and snacks to keep them occupied. I offer free no pressure buyer or seller consultations to see if I am the best fit for your home purchase needs.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t really believe in luck as much as mindset and God.
There have been many moments when I have almost quit, because work was slow and juggling being a mom and an agent can be difficult. However, God (or you could call it luck) has a client come up for me shortly after and shows me that this is what I was called to do.
In my personal life I keep a positive mindset and feel like that has a huge impact on how I view things. And when you view things in a positive light you realize how lucky you are in life.
