Inspiring Conversations with Pam Kovar and Jacqueline Grayczyk of The Turquoise Feather Hat Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pam Kovar and Jacqueline Grayczyk

Hi Pam and Jacqueline, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The idea for Turquoise Feather Hat Co. came to us after attending rodeos and dance halls, where we noticed a significant need for more flair in women’s western hats. While hat bars are becoming popular in some areas, Wylie, TX, didn’t have one—so we decided to create it ourselves!

Pam and Jacqueline, both transplants from the Midwest (Pam from Columbia, MO, and Jacqueline from Chicago), met through their life group at church in Wylie. They quickly became close friends, bonding over their shared work ethic and fashion sense. As full-time working moms, they understand the importance of taking time to connect with friends and have fun. With entrepreneurial spirits and a desire to give back to their community in a big way, Pam and Jacqueline combined their skills and experiences to build TF Hat Co.

Along the way, we’ve been fortunate to receive support from amazing companies like Herman Marshall Whiskey, who helped us get our start. In January 2023, we hosted our first large corporate event at HM’s grand opening, and from that moment on, there was no turning back. Every day, we continue to learn the craft of hat-making and decorating through training videos, social media posts, and hands-on practice.

In November 2024, we were blessed with the perfect storefront location—something we’d been praying for. After nearly a year of waiting, we opened our first brick-and-mortar shop with regular hours (not just by appointment). In addition to our signature hats, we now offer jewelry, accessories, a shoe bar, and candles.

One of the greatest joys of our journey has been the opportunity to give back to our local community. We’ve been able to support Hope For The Cities, a local nonprofit, in ways we never imagined. We’re excited for what the future holds and grateful for all the support along the way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In April 2023, we felt led to move our inventory and mobile hat bar out of our homes and into a business suite. It didn’t take long for us to realize that our clients—both current and potential—preferred private appointments over attending pop-up events. So, we quickly converted our small suite into a makeshift studio. By the end of 2023, we were feeling pretty cramped, and our clients were starting to ask for a store. But we needed funds to make that leap and, to be honest, a little more courage to take the next step.

We spent the next year praying, hoping that the right opportunity would open up in the spring of 2024. But as time passed, that door just didn’t open. So, we reached out to our pastor, who connected us with some local contacts. Through those connections, we met our wonderful landlord and found the perfect little storefront. Watching everything fall into place was a reminder that it wasn’t our timing—it was HIS.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Turquoise Feather Hat Co?
