Inspiring Conversations with Michelle Aiello of Ever Forward Counseling Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Aiello.

Hi Michelle , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey to becoming a therapist was shaped long before I earned my credentials. Through decades of lived experience, excruciating at times, I came to understand both the resilience and vulnerability that define the human experience. I learned firsthand what it means to navigate adversity, seek meaning, and confront the parts of ourselves that often remain hidden beneath expectations, fear, and survival.

Those experiences became the foundation for a career dedicated to helping others do the same. By integrating extensive professional training with a deep appreciation and understanding for the realities of life, I strive to create a therapeutic space where people feel truly seen, heard, and accepted—not for who they think they should be, but for who they are.

I believe that meaningful change begins with authenticity. My role is not to provide answers or prescribe a path, but to walk alongside individuals as they explore their stories, challenge limiting beliefs, and reconnect with their deepest values and strengths. Therapy can be a powerful invitation to reclaim lost parts of ourselves, cultivate self-compassion, and build a life that feels genuine and aligned.

I entered this field because I believe every person deserves a place where they can safely explore their inner world and discover the freedom that comes from living as their most authentic self.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am as human as they come. I have lived many years through some of the deepest painful realities. I battled an eating disorder during my younger years for 10 years that brought me to the brink of death on numerous occasions, leading me down every possible path towards healing. I experienced sexual assault and had to come face-to-face with the darkest parts of my own self and others. I believe in the resiliency of the human spirit as I have personally witnessed transformative stories, examples of what we can overcome and inspirations that I have offered and been offered. Becoming a therapist is one of the greatest honors and rewards, and it’s also incredibly hard many days. There are moments that you question if you are truly going to be able to help others, moments you reflect on what you needed during your own personal recovery, and also the truth that holding hope and also uncertainty is one of the most powerful tools we have as human beings.

As you know, we’re big fans of Ever Forward Counseling Collective. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a group of seven therapists offering a wide range of services including couple’s therapy, EMDR, individual therapy and also therapy for families and teens. Our work as a whole is centered on mental health support, self-exploration, and times feeling like full excavation, helping people gain clarity, rebuild trust in themselves and others, and create healthier patterns that support lasting emotional well-being, intrapersonally and interpersonally.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, and what are you known for?
We offer care ranging from spiritual abuse, to narcissistic abuse recovery, and couples therapy. I work with individuals who are recovering from emotionally abusive, manipulative, or high-conflict relationships, helping them process their experiences, rebuild self-esteem, establish healthy boundaries, and move forward with confidence. In my couples work, I help partners improve communication, navigate conflict, understand one another better, deepen emotional connection, and create stronger, healthier alliances. I am known for providing direct yet compassionate guidance and helping clients gain practical insights they can apply in their daily lives.
What sets you apart from others?
I am a highly empowering and passionate therapist. What sets me apart is my deep understanding of relationship dynamics and emotional abuse. Many survivors of narcissistic abuse spend years questioning their reality, their worth, and their judgment. I provide a validating, supportive environment while also helping clients develop the tools needed to reclaim their voice and sense of self. In couples therapy, I focus on helping partners move beyond surface-level conflicts to understand the underlying patterns that influence their relationship. My approach balances empathy with actionable strategies that create meaningful change.
What are you most proud of, brand-wise?
I am most proud of creating a practice that is known for helping people find clarity, healing, and empowerment after difficult relationship experiences. Whether working with individuals recovering from narcissistic abuse or couples seeking a stronger connection, my brand is built on authenticity, trust, and the belief that healthier relationships begin with greater self-awareness and emotional understanding. We additionally have a strongly collaborative therapy environment where therapists also care for each other and mentor and support when needed.
What do you want our readers to know about your brand, offerings, and services?
I want readers to know that healing and relationship growth are possible, even after experiences that have left them feeling hurt, confused, or disconnected and broken. My practice offers a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their challenges without judgment and develop the skills needed to create healthier relationships—with themselves and with others. Whether you’re recovering from narcissistic abuse, spiritual woundings, self-doubt and shame, or navigating a difficult relationship, or seeking to strengthen your partnership, my goal is to help you move forward with confidence, clarity, and hope.

What’s next?
I am a very growth-oriented, empowering, and motivational therapist. As we grow in the future, our hope is to expand the practice, while at the same time, remembering the real purpose for therapy and that isn’t to take over the world. The purpose of therapy is to reach people in need, offer a safe space for people to trust that they are cared well for, and they can create new experiences to take with them into the world. The purpose of therapy is not to build an empire. The purpose of therapy is to support connection, create new healthier ways of living, allow space for exploration, and better understand ourselves as human beings and our deepest longings. So as far as plans go, moving forward what I find myself craving is to help others be the best versions of themselves, however that looks.
