Inspiring Conversations with Mandy Maples of KeyTherion

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mandy Maples.

Hi Mandy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Like a lot of entrepreneurs, my journey didn’t start with a perfectly mapped out plan. It really grew out of life experiences and paying attention to problems that needed better solutions.

My husband and I spent years working in the industry from the back office to the field and eventually starting our own roofing and sheet metal business. Being in that industry gave us a front row seat to how confusing and fragmented homeownership can be. Homeowners invest so much into their homes but the history of repairs, upgrades and maintenance disappear over time. By the time a home changes hands, most of that information is gone and everyone is always starting over.

Seeing that happen again and again is what sparked the idea for KeyTherion. We began imagining a future where every home could have a trusted, living record, a digital DNA for the property, where verified contractors document repairs and improvements so homeowners and future buyers have real transparency.

Entrepreneurship has definitely come with challenges and moments of uncertainty, but it’s also incredibly rewarding to work toward building something that could genuinely help people and improve an industry that affects almost everyone.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has most certainly not been smooth. Fun yes! Smooth absolutely not! We have had folks completely ghost us after saying they wanted to help, juggling kids, life and production, changing the website multiple times as our vision changed and investors say we needed to be more direct with our approach. Each one of these pieces was a valuable lesson that we needed to learn before proceeding to the next phase so while it has been a roller coaster the knowledge we have gained we are forever grateful for.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about KeyTherion?
KeyTherion is building what we call the digital DNA of a home. Our platform creates a verified, living record of a property’s repairs, upgrades, inspections and maintenance over time. Instead of homeowners losing information every time a contractor leaves or a house changes owners, those records stay attached to the property itself.

Trusted contractors can upload reports, photos and documentation directly into the system, giving homeowners a transparent history of the work performed on their home. Over time, this creates a permanent timeline that can help homeowners better maintain their property and gives buyers, sellers and realtors more confidence during real estate transactions.

What sets KeyTherion apart is that we’re building the system from both sides of the industry. Because my husband and I come from the contractor world, we understand the challenges contractors face with trust, documentation and communication with homeowners. Our goal is to create a platform that benefits both homeowners and contractors while improving transparency across the entire homeownership lifecycle.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the mission behind it. A home is often the largest investment someone will make in their lifetime, yet the information surrounding it is scattered and easily lost. We’re working to change that by creating a trusted record that follows the home forever.

Ultimately, we want readers to know that KeyTherion is about bringing transparency and trust back into homeownership.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I think we’re going to see a major shift toward transparency and digital records in homeownership. Right now, so much of the information about a home lives in scattered paperwork, emails, or contractor files that eventually disappear. As technology continues to reshape industries, homeowners and buyers are going to expect easier access to reliable property history.

We’re already seeing the early stages of that shift through proptech, digital transactions and smart home technology. I believe the next step will be creating permanent, trusted records for properties that follow the home throughout its entire lifecycle.

Another big shift will be stronger collaboration between homeowners, contractors and real estate professionals. The industry has traditionally operated in silos, but technology will start connecting those groups in ways that make communication, documentation and decision making much easier.

Ultimately, I think the homes of the future will have a much clearer digital footprint. Just like vehicles have Carfax reports today, I believe properties will eventually have trusted records that help people understand exactly what has been done to a home and how it has been maintained over time.
