Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindy Goetzmann.
Hi Lindy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am originally from Wichita, Kansas, and attended the University of Arkansas, where I studied communication disorders. While in Fayetteville, I fell in love with a wedding venue concept and had the opportunity to connect with its owners and hear their journey! Even though I had already accepted a graduate position at KU Medical Center for speech pathology, I remember thinking that one day I would love to own or be part of a wedding venue.
Looking back, it makes sense! As a child, I kept notebooks filled with wedding gown designs and had a wedding Pinterest board long before Pinterest was a thing!
I completed my master’s degree and began working as a speech pathologist in the Kansas City area. When one of my best friends got married at Hawthorne House, I was introduced to the owner and joined the event team part-time. That role quickly grew into a full time opportunity within 6 months!
Leaving healthcare to step into the events world was intimidating, but it felt right. I took the leap, and I have not looked back since! I have now been full-time at Hawthorne House for over three years, and it has been a joy to grow within the business, learn the art of hospitality, and play a role in such meaningful celebrations.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a perfectly smooth road! One of the biggest challenges was making the decision to leave a stable healthcare career to step into the events industry. Breaking my contract as a speech-language pathologist was incredibly scary and felt like a huge leap of faith.
Learning an entirely new industry, including business operations, hospitality, sales, and event execution, came with a steep learning curve. But those challenges shaped me and gave me confidence, resilience, and clarity about what I truly love doing!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am the Venue Manager at Hawthorne House, a wedding and event venue in the Kansas City area. Hawthorne House is known for its timeless design, warm hospitality, and flexibility. It is a space that feels elevated but never intimidating!
What people may not always see is how relationship driven our approach is. We do not just provide a venue. We guide couples through one of the most meaningful days of their lives! From first tour to final send-off, our goal is to create a seamless, welcoming experience that feels calm, intentional, and deeply personal!
I specialize in client experience and venue operations, with a strong focus on thoughtful communication and hospitality! I am known for being detail oriented, approachable, and deeply invested in each couple’s vision.
Many couples tell me they feel immediately at ease during the planning process, which is incredibly important to me! I pride myself on anticipating needs, communicating clearly, and creating a planning experience that feels organized but never overwhelming.
I am most proud of the trust our couples place in us and the reputation Hawthorne House has built as a space where people feel genuinely cared for. Brand wise, I am proud that we are known not just for beauty, but for warmth, professionalism, and consistency. Personally, I am proud of how I have grown into this role, learning the ropes of business, hospitality, and leadership while staying grounded in why I started, to be part of meaningful moments and help people celebrate well!
I want readers to know that Hawthorne House is a place where intention meets ease. We offer a flexible, thoughtfully designed space paired with hands-on guidance and support. Whether couples want something classic, modern, sentimental, or creative, our venue serves as a beautiful foundation for their story. Most importantly, we care deeply. Every wedding matters to us, and that care shows in both the big picture and the smallest details!
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is creating experiences that feel meaningful, thoughtful, and genuinely cared for! I believe people may forget the exact details of a day, but they never forget how it made them feel. That belief guides everything I do, from how I communicate with couples to how a space is prepared and how moments are paced and experienced.
Weddings are incredibly emotional milestones, and being entrusted with that season of someone’s life is something I don’t take lightly. At the heart of my work is care for people, for relationships, and for creating environments where others feel seen, supported, and celebrated!
