Today we’d like to introduce you to Lily Fackrell.
Hi Lily, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
First Light Chiropractic and Family Wellness began with a simple belief: women and families deserve healthcare that listens to their experiences, considers the whole person, and helps them build lasting resilience rather than simply managing symptoms.
I earned my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland University–Kansas City, where I became especially interested in the relationship between the nervous system, stress, movement, and whole-body health. I began practicing in Salt Lake City in 2024, caring for families throughout the surrounding area. That experience strengthened my desire to create a practice where care could feel personal, collaborative, and grounded in a deeper understanding of how the body adapts to everyday stress.
In 2025, I returned to Missouri, my home state, with a clear vision for First Light Chiropractic and Family Wellness. I wanted to serve the Lee’s Summit and greater Kansas City communities while addressing a need I had observed both professionally and personally: women are often expected to function at a high level through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, hormonal changes, athletic training, parenting, careers, and chronic stress without receiving care that fully considers their unique physiology.
As a competitive runner, I understand how frustrating it can be when training looks right on paper, but the body is not responding the way you expect. Female athletes experience changing demands throughout different stages of life, yet their care is often approached through models that do not fully account for hormonal patterns, recovery needs, pelvic mechanics, nervous system stress, or the cumulative load of responsibilities outside of training. Pregnant and postpartum mothers can face a similar challenge. Their bodies undergo tremendous physical and neurological change, but their own recovery and well-being can easily become secondary.
I founded First Light to help close that gap.
My practice provides gentle, neurologically focused chiropractic care for women, children, families, and athletes. Using objective neurological assessments, individualized care plans, and techniques adapted to each patient’s needs, I help patients improve movement, regulate stress, recover more efficiently, and feel more connected to their bodies. I have also completed additional training to support women throughout pregnancy and postpartum recovery.
My goal is not to replace appropriate medical care, nutrition, physical therapy, or coaching. Instead, chiropractic care can become one meaningful part of a woman’s broader support system. I want women in our community to feel heard and respected and to understand that their symptoms, stress, and recovery experiences are worth paying attention to.
Today, First Light Chiropractic and Family Wellness serves people throughout the Kansas City area from our home base in Lee’s Summit. I am especially honored to care for cycle-breakers—people who are choosing to create healthier patterns for themselves, their children, and future generations.
Ultimately, First Light is about helping people build bodies and nervous systems that are more adaptable, resilient, and capable of supporting a full life. It has been incredibly meaningful to return home and create a space where women and families can receive thoughtful care, clear communication, and support through every season of life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road, but each challenge has helped shape the purpose behind my practice.
Starting my career in Utah as a young female doctor was not easy. There were moments when I had to work especially hard to find my voice, trust my clinical instincts, and advocate for the kind of care I believed women deserved. At the same time, those experiences opened my eyes to how great the need is for more providers who listen to women, understand their unique health concerns, and are willing to advocate for them. That realization became one of the driving forces behind my decision to return home to the Kansas City area and open my own clinic.
I am incredibly grateful for my husband, who has supported me as I have pursued my passions and built this vision. Entrepreneurship can be unpredictable, and having someone beside me who believes in the mission has made an enormous difference.
After nearly three years in practice, I have learned that life will always bring new challenges. In many ways, that connects directly to the work I do every day. My role is to help people improve their capacity to adapt to stress, recover from difficult seasons, and become more resilient. I have had to learn to apply that same advice to my own life—to regulate my own nervous system, remain grounded, and allow challenges to expand my capacity rather than diminish it.
I have also been deeply blessed to serve as a point of hope for people during some of the most difficult periods of their lives. Remembering the trust my patients place in me keeps me grounded when I encounter obstacles of my own. It reminds me that this work is much bigger than any temporary setback.
At the end of the day, I return to my “why.” I remember why I began, the people I feel called to serve, and the opportunity God has given me to make a difference in my community.
As a runner, I have learned that you cannot spend the entire race waiting for the finish line. You have to find joy in the process. Building a business and serving others is much the same. There will always be difficult miles, but when we intentionally look for moments of joy, gratitude, and purpose along the way, the challenges become part of a meaningful journey rather than something that simply weighs us down.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
First Light Chiropractic and Family Wellness is a neurologically focused chiropractic practice serving women, children, families, and athletes throughout Lee’s Summit and the greater Kansas City area. We specialize in gentle, individualized care designed to support nervous system function, stress adaptability, movement, recovery, and long-term well-being.
What sets First Light apart is that we look beyond where someone hurts and consider how the entire nervous system is functioning. Stress is not only emotional—it can also come from demanding schedules, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, athletic training, injury, lack of rest, and the pressure to constantly perform. Through objective neurological assessments, personalized care plans, and a variety of gentle chiropractic techniques, we meet each patient where they are rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
I am especially proud that our practice is becoming a strong advocate for women’s health, particularly for younger women and female athletes. We live in a fast-paced culture that often expects women to operate at full capacity without considering how chronic stress, hormonal changes, under-recovery, and major life transitions affect female physiology. Women are frequently encouraged to push through discomfort, ignore exhaustion, or place everyone else’s needs ahead of their own. I want to help change that conversation.
At First Light, we take great pride in helping women feel strong, capable, and informed. We want them to feel that they can take up space, ask questions, listen to their bodies, and give their own health the attention it deserves. Care should not make someone feel dependent or powerless. It should help them better understand their body and feel more confident participating in their own health decisions.
My experience as both a chiropractor and competitive runner also shapes how I care for athletes. I understand that performance is not only about working harder; it is also about how well the nervous system coordinates movement, manages stress, and recovers between training sessions. Female athletes deserve care that recognizes the realities of training in a female body and supports both performance and long-term health.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the sense of hope, safety, and empowerment we are building. The name “First Light” represents the beginning of a new chapter—the moment when someone starts to see that their current circumstances do not have to define their future. Whether a patient is navigating pregnancy, recovering postpartum, raising a family, training for a race, or simply trying to feel more at home in their body, I want our office to be a place where they feel heard, respected, and supported.
Ultimately, First Light exists to help people become more resilient. We are here for the cycle-breakers, the parents, the young women, and the athletes who want to create healthier patterns for themselves and future generations. Our goal is not simply to help people feel better temporarily, but to support them in building a stronger foundation for the life they want to live.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned is to remain true to my principles and have the courage to use my voice.
There will always be pressure to follow what is expected, stay quiet, or choose the path that feels safest. However, growth often requires trusting what you know, standing firmly in your values, and speaking up—even when doing so feels uncomfortable.
As a young female doctor, I have learned that my perspective matters. Using my voice has allowed me to advocate more strongly for women, especially those who have felt dismissed, misunderstood, or taught to ignore what their bodies are telling them. It has also helped me create a practice that genuinely reflects my beliefs about healthcare: that people deserve to feel heard, respected, empowered, and actively involved in their own healing.
Staying true to your principles does not mean that you will never evolve or change your mind. It means remaining grounded in your purpose while continuing to learn and grow. For me, that purpose is helping people build resilience, create healthier patterns, and feel more confident in their bodies and their lives.
Courage is not always loud or dramatic. Sometimes it is simply choosing, again and again, to do what you believe is right. That lesson has shaped the doctor, business owner, and woman I am becoming.
