Today we’d like to introduce you to Khyati Kapur.
Khyati, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been a physician associate for over 20 years, mainly in the ER but also in the operating room. I graduated from an accelerated PA program and honestly I was so scared to start practicing medicine at such a young age! I always struggled with loving my job in the hospital because I felt that the way we cared for patients was so one-dimensional. But I did not know any better or how to change my scope of practice.
After getting married and having my two children, I slowly realized that I was also one of those patients that was getting one-dimensional care. And I did not like it. I knew there was a better way to not only treat patients acutely but also focus on their long-term health goals. My husband, a physician, had realized that years ago and was already changing his way of practice and at first, I thought he was crazy! Then I realized that the path he was seeking for integrative and regenerative medicine was the path I had been looking for all along.
That’s when I started my first business, Seva Soul, a health and wellness company that focused on science-based nutrition. We used our knowledge to create two supplements, Nirvana Nootropic Coffee and Seva Soul Collagen Powder. But I wanted more and desired that patient interaction. I have always had a profound belief that health and wellness is always from the inside and out. So I started KVK Aesthetics and Wellness.
The services I offer are medical aesthetics, bioidentical hormone therapy, medical weight loss, PRP for face, hair restoration, and scarring, and specialized microneedling services. Each consultation and treatment is uniquely tailored to fit your needs based on your genetic makeup, medical history, and lifestyle. These components all play a major factor in how you should be treated and ultimately your end results.
I absolutely love what I do! I am so grateful for all the amazing humans I have met and love to hear that I have positively impacted their lives. It has been a very bumpy road to run this business and I am sure more to come as we continue to improve and expand. But to be able to treat and care for patients in a way in which I know they will benefit makes it worth it all!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Ha, I wish! When you run your own business, you own it ALL. That means phone calls/texts/emails at any time and most of all having patience and understanding. This is an evolving medical space, which is exciting and holds so many promising opportunities for patient care. But it comes with a lot of unknowns and it is NOT cookie-cutter medicine. So it can be very challenging but also very exhilarating at the same time.
I will say that I continue to learn from every patient and experience. Which is exactly what I want. I want to be pushed and challenged so that ultimately I can keep learning and giving my patients the best possible care and recommendations.
As you know, we’re big fans of KVK Aesthetics and Wellness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I currently work at Shaman Leawood Total Wellness. The owner, Vince Sanders, has a deep passion for integrative medicine. Our vision and views aligned well.
Services offered at the clinic:
– Medical Aesthetics (Neurotoxin, Dermal Fillers, Kybella, Sculptra)
– Specialized Microneedling Services – microglow/microsculpt
– Bioidentical Hormone Therapy Management
– Medical Weight Loss
– PRP (hair restoration, face, scarring)
– IV Therapy
– Ketamine Therapy
I am most proud of my authenticity in this space. It is so easy to get caught up with what the next person is doing or posting to social media. I stay true to my roots and beliefs and that is why I have a loyal patient base. My patients know that they are cared for even when they are not sitting on my treatment chair.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
This is a tough one especially since I started this on my own without a mentor. The best advice I have is to be proactive. Definitely go find your group.
Your mentor does not have to be local. Go to education dinners sponsored by local vendors and ask them to connect you to other mentors in your field. Go to medical conferences and keep in touch with the lecturers afterwards to ask questions. Join online groups or find relevant Patreon accounts to follow.
Don’t view mentors as competition but as your colleagues. We each have unique experiences and pearls in our medical practices and it is always useful to hear another perspective. It is what helps us keep learning and to become better.
