Today we’d like to introduce you to Julee Goeser.
Hi Julee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We’ve all heard the saying, “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” I’m finally living that truth. It took nearly half a lifetime to arrive here, but I’ve found my calling: helping people gain a clear, accurate picture of their bone health so they—and their medical team—can make more informed decisions about care.
My passion for bone health is personal. After a traumatic wrist fracture from a bicycle accident, I was diagnosed with osteopenia and advised to begin bone medication. Like many people in that position, I felt fear and uncertainty about what the future might hold.
While searching for answers, I learned about an ultrasound-based bone assessment used in other states that evaluates not only bone density, but bone strength. I traveled to have the test done, and the results were eye-opening. Although my bone density technically fell into the osteoporosis range, this advanced technology was able to look deeper—into the trabecular, or internal, structure of my bones. My Bone Strength Score was excellent.
That information changed everything. Knowing my bone quality was strong gave me peace of mind and allowed me to move forward without panic. Instead of fear, I could focus on long-term strategies to support and improve my bone health. It was a powerful reminder that more information—especially the right information—can be truly life-changing.
Bone health touches nearly every aspect of overall health. While bone turnover takes months to years, almost every daily decision—what you eat, how you move, how you care for your body—plays a role. I’ve been researching lifestyle, preventative, and natural health for more than two decades, became a nurse over ten years ago, and have also worked in biometric screening with Quest Diagnostics. With a background in business and healthcare, I realized this was a service I could be trained to provide—and that it was deeply needed in the Midwest.
So I took the leap. I researched the technology, developed a business plan, and committed to bringing this advanced bone health screening to people who want more clarity when collaborating with their doctors. My goal is simple: to empower individuals with accurate, meaningful information about their bones.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges is introducing a technology that is still unfamiliar in the Midwest and positioning it within a healthcare system that often focuses more on treatment than prevention. While REMS has been used in Europe and parts of the U.S. for years, building awareness and trust takes time. Preventative services don’t always fit neatly into traditional medical pathways, so clear communication is essential. My focus is on helping people see this as a tool that supports informed conversations with their healthcare providers—without creating fear or confusion.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The technology is called REMS— Radiofrequency Echographic Multi- Spectrometry—and was developed by the Italian company Echolight Medical. It has been used throughout Europe for nearly a decade. REMS is painless, radiation-free, and provides immediate results. Unlike traditional DXA scans, which can be skewed by arthritis, calcifications, or spinal changes, Echolight REMS analyzes raw ultrasound signals to exclude these artifacts offering a more precise assessment.
In addition to T-scores and Z-scores for bone mineral density, REMS provides a Bone Strength Score—a fragility assessment that evaluates the internal trabecular bone. This deeper look at bone quality is what truly sets REMS apart. The scan also includes a full body composition analysis to track muscle and fat, making it an excellent tool for monitoring bone health and overall wellness over time.
We provide services at OsteoStrong-KC, 6950 W 105 St, Overland Park, as well as mobile, in-home scans.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Running an Echolight REMS site isn’t just operating a business—it’s handling information that can profoundly affect how someone feels about their health. I take that responsibility seriously. My approach is grounded in accuracy, transparency, and ensuring every person who walks through the door feels informed, respected, and supported.
Our role is to make bone health screening accessible rather than intimidating—and to give people the knowledge they need to move forward with confidence.
