Inspiring Conversations with Jessica Brown of Mighty Kids Pediatric Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Brown.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Mighty Kids Pediatric Therapy began out of both necessity and calling. I was working with children through MO First Steps (early intervention services), and I kept meeting families who were desperate for therapy closer to home — families stuck on long waitlists at large hospital systems or driving an hour each week just so their child could be seen. I could feel the frustration and the exhaustion in those parents, and something in me knew I was supposed to do something about it.

I started small — renting a tiny gym space inside a local speech therapy clinic and seeing kids wherever I could fit. I never set out to build a business; I simply wanted to serve families well. But the need was bigger than I imagined, and doors kept opening. Each time I was unsure of the next step, God provided the way — whether it was space, resources, or people.

That’s how Mighty Kids was born.

Over the past six years, that step has grown into its own physical location with a team of five physical therapists and a speech therapist. We’ve created a place where parents feel supported, where kids are celebrated, and where we get to witness everyday miracles — small steps, new words, first jumps, tiny victories that feel like mountains.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road! Physical therapists are not trained in business — at all. I had to learn everything from scratch: trial and error, asking other clinicians questions, researching all the things late at night, and honestly, a little bit of pure luck.

There were seasons where I wanted to quit. I made mistakes, big ones, and had to learn how to stretch, grow, and keep going through a lot of ups and downs. But God kept putting the right people in my path — mentors, families, and eventually the team that stands with me today.

I am blessed with an incredible team. The therapists I get to work with aren’t just skilled — they are kind, patient, and deeply compassionate. They are some of the best in their field, and having them on this journey makes all the difference. In healthcare — especially pediatrics and insurance-based therapy — success isn’t guaranteed. It’s one of the hardest branches of physical therapy to sustain as a private clinic.

What has carried me through is this: I know I am called to do this. I couldn’t have built Mighty Kids without God’s provision, my family’s support, and a willingness to keep getting back up when things were hard. Running a small business is challenging, but I am confident in the calling and the purpose behind it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mighty Kids Pediatric Therapy?
Mighty Kids Pediatric Therapy is a private physical therapy clinic for kids, from birth through 18 years. We work with children for all kinds of reasons — torticollis, genetic or neurological conditions, developmental delays, milestones that aren’t being met, clumsiness, toe walking, sensory concerns…the list goes on. We screen for delays, treat mild or complex developmental concerns, and “troubleshoot” when parents feel something just isn’t quite right.

Our training is specifically in pediatric physical development, and our goal is to maximize each child’s ability to participate confidently in their everyday life — at home, at school, and in the community.

What sets Mighty Kids apart is our heart for families. We aren’t just treating a diagnosis or number; we are walking beside parents and caregivers, empowering them to advocate for their children and celebrating every milestone — big or small. We believe each kid is capable, valuable, and deserving of investment. Every member of our team shares that belief.

We also believe every child is created with purpose, and it’s one of the greatest honors of our work to speak into that potential and help them step into it.

At the end of the day, our mission is simple: help children live fully into their physical potential and remind families that they’re not alone.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
The biggest thing I want families to know is that they don’t have to navigate developmental concerns with their new infant or older child alone. We are here to guide, support, and walk alongside them — whether their child needs ongoing therapy, a developmental screening, or even help choosing adaptive equipment or braces. We collaborate closely with physicians, orthotists, and schools to make sure children get what they need to thrive.

We are always accepting new clients, and we genuinely mean it when we say we’re here for families. Even if a parent just has questions or isn’t sure where to start, they can call us — we will help point them in the right direction.

Above all, we believe every child has purpose and potential, and it is an honor to be part of their story.
