Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Pierron.
Hi Jess, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got my degree in graphic design at Mizzou and spent more than a decade working in design and digital marketing before moving into entrepreneurship. In 2018, I co-founded a home decor e-commerce brand, helped grow and eventually sell it, and learned firsthand what it takes to build a business.
In 2022, I founded Up After Studios, a boutique digital marketing agency now based in the Kansas City area. Today, I lead a small team helping established businesses with social media, content, influencer strategy, branding, and web design.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to build a business, not just create great work. That has meant refining our services, learning when to say “no,” building the right team, and letting go of the idea that I had to do everything myself.
Relocating to Kansas City while continuing to grow the business also meant rebuilding community and relationships in a different city. There have been plenty of pivots and uncertain seasons, but each one has helped me become clearer about the kind of work we want to do and the kind of brand I want Up After Studios to be.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Up After Studios is a female-founded, midwest based digital marketing agency. We help established businesses in Kansas City, St. Louis, and nationwide show up online with content creation, organic social media marketing, web design, branding, and influencer campaigns that attract the right people and feel true to the brand.
What sets UAS apart is how closely we work with our clients. We become an extension of their internal team, combining strong strategy with creative execution that still feels true to their brand. I’m especially proud that we’ve built long-term relationships with businesses of all sizes (from growing small businesses to established retail brands) and created work that leads to real, measurable growth.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Kansas City is my home by choice. I lived here post-college for 7 years then after moving away for a decade, ultimately returned because I missed this city so much. It has big-city creativity and opportunity while still feeling community-minded.
What I like least is really just something I miss from St. Louis which is the arts scene (especially the historic atmosphere for the Fox Theatre). Kansas City has incredible creative community of its own, but that particular experience is hard to replace.
