I began my insurance career with State Farm, where I spent seven years gaining a comprehensive understanding of the industry. Recognizing our desire for greater control over our business and the opportunity to build a valuable asset, my wife Mikayla Warren and I transitioned to the independent insurance channel. This strategic move enabled us to establish our own brokerage, and we are now entering our fourth year of operation.
Our agency has become one of the fastest-growing in Missouri. With a team of eight licensed agents, we are authorized to operate in 33 states and offer a full spectrum of personal and commercial insurance solutions. Our goal is to provide a one-stop shop for all our clients’ insurance needs.
Before embarking on my professional career, I grew up in a blue-collar family with a strong emphasis on hard work. I was deeply involved in sports and outdoor activities from a young age, and my competitive nature was evident early on. At 13, I began working by hauling hay and mowing lawns, experiences that instilled in me a strong work ethic and a clear understanding of diligence.
After high school, I explored various job opportunities before returning to college, where I faced challenges and did not succeed in my first semester. Despite this setback, I found my path in the insurance industry, obtaining my license shortly thereafter. I have now been dedicated to the field for 10 years, bringing a wealth of experience and commitment to my work.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has not always been smooth for us. The insurance market has presented significant challenges over the past four years, largely due to the fact that the industry relies on data from 3-4 years prior. Despite these obstacles, our mindset remains: “We never lose; we learn.” We view setbacks as valuable learning experiences.
While many in the insurance industry might perceive these challenges as negative, we see them as opportunities. We greatly value customer loyalty, but we recognize that consistently rising rates lead many to shop around for better options. This situation provides us with the chance to earn their business.
Looking ahead, I believe the future of insurance lies in offering diverse options. As brokers, we are well-positioned to provide a wide range of choices to meet our clients’ needs.
