Hi Hayley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We are a small husband and wife duo. We started this little business after some research and finding a passion for quality, durable, wearable fashion that endures the test of time. My husband is an engineer by trade with a background in welding, and I am a doctor in training. We’re both always very busy with our careers, so we have thoroughly enjoyed finding a new avenue to meet new people and connect with our community. We have really ended up falling in love with this little side gig. I started in small town Tennessee with an intention of bringing in an extra stream of income while I finish up medical school and has moved back with me to Kansas City and ended up being something I really love and cherish.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not particularly, but I don’t think any business gets by without challenges. Other than the obvious struggle of balancing medical school with our business, I really wanted to learn as much as I could about my product and the industry before diving in. With the help of my husband, I learned a lot about welding, metals, and what makes high quality material worth selling. Comparison has been a big struggle in knowing I could take short cuts to lower my prices, but discovered that would significantly impact the quality of the metals I was selling. Although my prices are higher than my competitors, I pride myself in sourcing high quality metal that is true and built to last.
We’ve been impressed with Perfectly Taylor’d Permanent Jewelry, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a custom permanent jewelry experience offering pop ups, vendor events, private parties, and more in the greater Kansas City area. We specialize in 14K solid gold, 14K gold filled, and .925 sterling silver. What sets us apart is the quality and sourcing of our metals. We do not offer any gold plated, temporary, or “seasonal” chains, so all of our chains are suitable for daily wear and will not wear or tarnish. What started as a side gig has quickly evolved into a passion for bringing high quality metals to the market that are made for permanent wear.
