Inspiring Conversations with Georgia Fuchs of Georgia Fuchs Interior Design LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgia Fuchs.

Hi Georgia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Thank you so much for the interview! My design career started fairly recently, however, I have always loved the arts. I started out getting my Business Administration degree from the University of Kansas and never felt fulfilled with any job I had. I finally decided with some encouragement from my family to go to JCCC and get a degree in Interior Design with an emphasis in Kitchen and Bath. My professors really inspired me to start my own business, Georgia Fuchs Interior Design. With my degree, I started work at Virginia Tile as a Design Consultant. I wanted to use that experience to network and learn a little about tile. After working there as a Design Consultant and then onto the Showroom Manager, I decided to quit and go solo! It was the best decision I made.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think every business owner has some struggles. Mine had to do with the every day business part of being an entrepreneur. Luckily my business degree helped with most struggles.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I started my company in 2017 after I finished a second round of schooling but this time in Interior Design. I specialize in Kitchen and Bath design. I will work up a layout in Chief Architect if the client wants to see a 3D version of their space. I feel my education and background sets me apart. I am always open to suggestions and enjoy being a problem solver. That is the fun part for me! My services. include Kitchen and Bath design, however, I love giving design advice for a living room, or doing space planning for a bedroom etc.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I had the good fortune of some of the best professors in the industry. I went to Johnson County Community College and they are known for their Interior Design Program. I was given the rare opportunity at JCCC to pass the NKBA Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer certification. I passed!!! So I have my AKBD before I even started to work. in the field. I also am a member of their Advisory Board to help guide them in how to provide the best education for the market we currently have. I am very involved in the American Society for Interior Designers as Communications Director as well. I submitted some of my work to the Heartland Design Awards over the years and have won 3 gold awards and 1 Crystal award for my designs. Previously I have worked on the NKBA local chapter board and plan on returning next year to that. I feel that staying involved helps my business thrive. Most of all though, I just enjoy helping my clients love their home!
