Inspiring Conversations with Gabby Hardesty of SHE’S HEALTH CONSCIOUS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabby Hardesty

Hi Gabby, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, I experienced two very different lifestyles. My mom was holistic-minded, while my dad embraced the typical “American lifestyle” with processed foods, fast food, and sugary snacks. Naturally, as a child, I preferred my dad’s way. It was a struggle for my mom to get me to eat her way.

I like people to know that I’ve lived both lifestyles. I understand that when you have these eating and lifestyle habits you don’t know any different, it’s all you know, and you can’t do better if you don’t know any better. I feel really grateful to have had my mom as a role model in that way, even if I didn’t realize it until I was older.

Despite rebelling against my mom’s healthy habits, her influence stayed with me. It wasn’t until I struggled with persistent acne in high school that I turned to her advice. Frustrated with my skin, I finally decided to give her way a try. She gave me the book “The Food Babe” by Vani Hari, which opened my eyes to the harsh realities of our food system. This sparked my journey towards a healthier lifestyle.

I was 18 or 19, living on my own, and determined to make a change. To control the things I could, I began by setting rules for my home, buying only organic and non-GMO foods. I started reading more, listening to podcasts, and gradually replacing personal care products and cleaning supplies with natural alternatives. Not only did my acne clear up, but I also felt more vibrant and healthier than ever before.

In 2021, I discovered Melissa Wood Health on Instagram, which led me to the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN). The curriculum resonated with me instantly, and I knew health coaching was my calling. I built “She’s Health Conscious” while studying at IIN, transitioning from a 7-year career in real estate. I felt passionate and grounded in my new path, sharing what I was learning on Instagram.

The name “She’s Health Conscious” aims to challenge stereotypes that label health-conscious women as picky or high maintenance. We educate and empower women to make better choices for themselves and their families, recognizing their unique ability to drive meaningful change. Our goal is to make health and wellness accessible, understandable, and achievable for every woman.

At “She’s Health Conscious,” we believe that when women thrive, their families and communities do too. Together, we can redefine what it means to be health-conscious and create a healthier future for ourselves and generations to come.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It can be overwhelming to know where to start and what services to offer. Everyone tells you to nieche down, but there are so many different facets of health that need to be addressed. Initially, I began with coaching, but soon realized that people needed more comprehensive support. This led me to expand my offerings to include integrative lab testing and high-quality supplement prescriptions.

To further educate my clients, I started a blog and added a store for non-toxic product swaps and clean recommendations. The journey kept evolving because health is holistic, and everything is interconnected. You have to look at the whole picture, not just one aspect of a person’s health.

Most recently, I added in-home assessments and grocery store tours to our services. Many people need help starting right in their home environment. By ensuring their sanctuary supports their health goals and teaching them how to make informed choices while shopping, I aim to create lasting change by empowering them with knowledge and education.

Currently, my biggest struggle is managing the growth of “She’s Health Conscious”, Leading me to look for additional health coaches and wellness professionals to join the team. As a business owner and wellness professional, wearing all the hats is unsustainable and not good for my well-being. I fiercely believe in the power of collaboration and am excited to see where this expansion leads.

As you know, we’re big fans of SHE’S HEALTH CONSCIOUS. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At “She’s Health Conscious” (SHC), we specialize in holistic health and wellness, offering a range of services designed to support and empower individuals on their health journeys. Our offerings include personalized health coaching, integrative lab testing, high-quality supplement prescriptions, in-home assessments, and grocery store tours. Additionally, we maintain a blog for educational purposes and a store featuring non-toxic products and clean recommendations.

What sets us apart is our commitment to community building and experiential learning. I am passionate about bringing people together and fostering a supportive, aligned community.

Last October, I hosted a garden party at the Wild Hill Farmhouse in Springhill, KS, to celebrate the launch of SHC. Guests explored various vendors and healers while learning about alternative holistic treatments and practices. This year, we plan to host a similar event on a downtown rooftop oasis, allowing people to experience and learn about alternative healing modalities firsthand.

I also host a monthly “Healthy Girl Happy Hour” at True Food Kitchen on the plaza, where Dr. Andrew Weil, one of my professors at IIN, co-founded the restaurant. True Food Kitchen graciously provides appetizers, and each event features a guest speaker, product samples, or other fun giveaways. These gatherings create a safe space for learning, sharing knowledge, and connecting with like-minded individuals.

Another exciting venture is the yoga retreat I’m hosting with my mom in Italy next June.

At SHC, our vibe is all about making health fun, sexy, and playful. We reject restrictive practices, focusing instead on reconnecting with our bodies and learning to listen to what feels good. Our philosophy emphasizes getting back to the basics of clean, natural living. We believe in the holistic interconnectedness of health, where every aspect of life impacts the other. When you start living in alignment with this philosophy, everything shifts for the better.

SHC is just nearly a year old, yet it has already grown and evolved so much. It’s beautiful to experience the process of creation as an entrepreneur. I have so many ideas, and I’m excited to see where they lead.

One of our unique brand elements is our pink “Make America Healthy Again” hats. These hats are designed to spark conversations about the pressing issue of America’s health. I believe spreading awareness is a big part of my job because many people are unaware of what is truly good for them. Change starts with individual actions, and every conversation creates a ripple effect. We plan to launch more brand merch later this year.

In summary, “She’s Health Conscious” is dedicated to empowering individuals through holistic health and wellness. We offer a variety of services and create community events to educate and inspire. Our mission is to make health accessible, fun, and transformative, fostering a healthier future for all.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is waking people up and making them conscious of their choices. I am deeply committed to enlightening individuals about the profound impact their daily decisions have on their overall quality of life. It’s incredibly important to me to empower people so they can make informed decisions and advocate for themselves and their families.

I care about making health available and accessible to everyone, showing people their own innate healing power. When you give your body the right tools, it has an incredible capacity to heal. I want people to take pride in caring for themselves and to realize what a gift our health is. By taking preventative steps, we can live our fullest, best lives. Often, we neglect our health and only make it a priority once it’s already too late. I want to shift this mindset and encourage proactive, rather than reactive, health care. Seeing people thrive and take control of their well-being is what drives me every day.
