Inspiring Conversations with Dr. Tracy Gunn

Hi Dr. Gunn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?

Growing up in Kansas City, I always believed I was destined to IMPACT and CHANGE lives. Little did I know I was soon to discover what that looked like. As a mother of three wonderful children and grandmother of four.

My life’s journey didn’t start out as I hoped, but it was certainly the ingredients that I truly believe God used to catapult me to where I am today.

From dropping out of high school after becoming a teen mother, and landing in an abusive relationship, to divorce and losing my oldest son to gun violence!

One might be puzzled and ponder how would these disappointments be ingredients to impact anyone. Although I felt my life was hopeless in the back of my mind I still believed I was destined to “IMPACT and CHANGE”-lives!

As I became a new believer in Christ, I have seen God take my Tragedies and turn them into TRIUMPHS! As I drew closer to God my faith was being strengthened and fears were diminishing and this was my turning point. I found myself on a re-discovery journey it was as if God was making me over.

I returned back to school completing my education. I became the first in my immediate family to graduate from College receiving a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling, Doctoral Degrees in Education and Psychology.Still with the belief in my heart, I was destined to “IMPACT and CHANGE”-lives. I saw God again strategically positioning me. This time to working with single parents, at-risk youth, and domestic violence survivors. Implementing programs, workshops, and services for those individuals that walked the same pathway I did.

I became the first woman in my family to be a licensed and ordained minister. Then serving in the capacity as a, Spiritual Mentor, Youth Pastor and Leader in Marketplace. As I stepped into these various roles and having a heart for people it prompted me to launch a Nonprofit organization;

Dr. Tracy L. Gunn Ministries now re-named as “Growing Healthy Families” which  the organization’s sole purpose is to assist families in strengthening their Spirituality, Life Skills, and Financial Stability.

Thereafter I launched a Talk show entitled; ” Real Talk. Real People, Real Solutions” a television talk show which serves as a platform for Emerging Leaders, Community Activists, Therapists, Kingdom Influencers and Marketplace leaders whereby they share their journey and expertise with our viewers. And I like to believe God is NOT Done with me yet!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

My journey has certainly had its challenges but If I had to do it all overI would not change a thing, it helped me rediscover myself, my passion and purpose in life.Becoming a believer in Jesus Christ and placing my faith in him helped me to overcome the challenges I faced such as fear, rejection and not believing in myself!

Currently I am a Television talk show host & broadcaster, Therapist and Founder of Nonprofit organization.

My Talk Show is currently aired on  Preach The Word Network a Global Christian network, entitled –“Real Talk, Real People, Real Solutions “ a platform for Emerging Leaders, Community Activists, Therapists, Kingdom Influencers and Marketplace leaders that can be heard every Friday at 9:30am

on the network.

As the founder of nonprofit organization I implement age appropriate services, programs and workshops designed to educate and empower families throughout the urban core and general community which include providing support for Domestic Violence  surviors.

And what sets me apart, CHALLENGES are my superpower!
