Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Michelle Robin
Hi Dr. Michelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into the world of whole-person wellness started over 33 years ago when I founded Your Wellness Connection, a space dedicated to helping people heal and thrive through an integrative approach to health. From the beginning, I’ve been passionate about bringing together multiple modalities—chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, functional medicine, and more—to empower individuals to take charge of their well-being.
Through my years of practice, I developed the Quadrants of Wellbeing framework, which highlights the four key areas of health: Mechanical (movement and structure), Chemical (nutrition and biochemistry), Energetical (nervous system and subtle energy), and Psychospiritual (mindset and purpose). When these quadrants are in balance, people experience a greater sense of vitality and resilience. This approach has become the foundation of how we guide individuals toward sustainable well-being, helping them make small but impactful shifts in each area of their lives.
As my work evolved, I realized that true transformation happens through small, consistent changes, which led me to launch the Small Changes Big Shifts movement 10 years ago. This movement is all about making well-being accessible and achievable, and it has grown into a platform that touches lives through education, inspiration, and community support.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all—it’s been a road filled with challenges, growth, and invaluable lessons. When I started Your Wellness Connection 33 years ago, the idea of holistic health wasn’t as widely accepted as it is today. Convincing people to take a whole-person approach to their well-being—one that considers the quadrants of wellbeing (mechanical, chemical, energetical, and psychospiritual) aspects of health was an uphill battle.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Your Wellness Connection, we take a truly integrative and holistic approach to health, bringing together a variety of healing modalities under one roof to help people achieve whole-person well-being. For 33 years, we’ve been a trusted wellness hub in Kansas City, offering chiropractic care, acupuncture, functional medicine, massage therapy, nutrition counseling, energy healing, and more. What sets us apart is our deep commitment to treating the whole person—not just symptoms. We believe that true health comes from balancing the mechanical, chemical, energetical, and psychospiritual aspects of life.
Beyond our clinic, we expanded our mission 10 years ago with Small Changes Big Shifts, a movement designed to empower people through education, inspiration, and community. We believe that well-being isn’t about perfection—it’s about small, consistent shifts that create lasting transformation. In 2020, we launched our nonprofit programs, allowing us to reach even more people by providing wellness education and resources to underserved communities.
What I’m most proud of is the impact we’ve made on people’s lives—helping individuals and families reclaim their health, feel more connected, and live with greater vitality. Whether it’s through one-on-one care at Your Wellness Connection, educational programs, or our community-driven initiatives, everything we do is rooted in the belief that well-being should be accessible, achievable, and sustainable.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The COVID-19 crisis reinforced what I’ve always believed—that true well-being is about resilience, adaptability, and community. It was a wake-up call for many to prioritize their health in a more intentional way, not just for themselves but for their families and communities.
One of the biggest lessons I learned was the importance of connection in healing. So many people struggled with isolation, stress, and uncertainty, and it became clear that wellness isn’t just about physical health—it’s about mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, too. This reaffirmed our commitment at Your Wellness Connection to offer whole-person care that supports people beyond just their physical health.
COVID also pushed us to innovate. We had to find new ways to deliver our message, pivoting to virtual programs and expanding access to our wellness resources. It was during this time that our Small Changes Big Shifts nonprofit programs became even more crucial, as we worked to bring wellness education to underserved communities that needed it most.
More than anything, the pandemic reminded us that health isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.
