Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Matt Fehr.
Hi Dr. Matt, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I graduated from Kansas State Veterinary school in 2006 and went to work in a mixed animal clinic in central Kansas for 10 years. I then did traveling work for several years before purchasing the De Soto Veterinary Clinic April of 2020.
We are deeply grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received from the De Soto community and are proud to be part of this town. At De Soto Veterinary Clinic, we believe that exceptional care in a close-knit community makes all the difference.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When we first bought the clinic it was during the covid shut down and the first couple weeks were definitely a struggle, but soon people learned that we were essential and open and they started bringing their pets in. Our next struggle was as we grew and gained more clients, we were running out of space in our small building.
The next struggle was finding a second veterinarian to help with the work load we were building up. The veterinary world is a competitive job market and finding the right fit was tough.
Last August, we were thrilled to welcome Dr. Lane to our team. He has brought the same level of skill, warmth, and dedication that defines our clinic — continuing our mission of delivering BIG CARE for our small town.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Small Town, Big Care
At De Soto Veterinary Clinic, “Small Town, Big Care” isn’t just a motto — it’s a promise. Every day, our veterinarians and team live that promise through genuine compassion, personalized service, and an unwavering dedication to animal health.
What makes our clinic special is the bond we share with our community. Over the past five years, we’ve watched families — and their pets — grow alongside us. We’ve celebrated new additions, helped guide them through happy, healthy years, and have been honored to stand beside our clients during those heartfelt goodbyes.
Dr. Matt brings over 19 years of experience to our town, offering everything from chiropractic and acupuncture treatments to soft tissue surgeries and wellness care. His calm presence and deep expertise have made him a trusted favorite among our clients and their pets.
Joining the clinic last August, Dr. Lane has continued that same tradition of excellence and compassion. His energy, attention to detail, and genuine love for animals have made him an incredible addition to our team — and to the families we serve.
Together, our team is proud to provide big-city quality care with small-town heart — right here at home in De Soto.
What’s next?
Looking Ahead
In December 2023, De Soto Veterinary Clinic proudly moved into our new location — a milestone that marked an exciting new chapter for our team and community. Since then, our practice has continued to thrive and grow, allowing us to expand our services and enhance the level of care we provide.
Looking toward the future, our focus remains on staying at the forefront of an ever-evolving veterinary industry. We’re committed to investing in advanced technology, continuing education, and innovative treatment options to ensure every pet receives the highest standard of care.
At DVC, there’s no “one-size-fits-all” approach. Each patient is unique, and we take pride in creating personalized care plans tailored to every animal’s individual needs — because your pets deserve nothing less.
